Miss your SD80?

Oh I've been meaning to ask you... Have you tried your SD80 with G12T75s at all? Either my ears are deceiving me or that speaker works REALLY well with the Budda.

Hmmm....not that I can remember. V30s, GBs, CL80s. Those were my most used. What is it you like about the 75s? More bite?

Not to be an enabler or anything but if that's the case you might dig the Budda speakers. And a matching 4x12 is always nice to have... :D

LOL! :D
Enabler!
Which were your faves? GBs?

The 75's sounded real clear and articulate. Very punchy. My GB's sound almost muddy in comparison.

If memory serves I had a recto 2x12 when I first got the amp. V30s. Good cab but too beamy and a stupid carry. So I got the old marshall cab with blackbacks. Good tone. Warm but clear. Later on I added the THD CL80 2x12. Became a close 2nd fave to the marshall.

So my order of pref was blackbacks, THD, recto. But yeah the blackbacks are warmer/rounder than a lot of speakers but I was into that at the time. That's why I loved the SD80. It had that warm woody tone. And that's why I ended up moving it too...missed the klang.

I only ever had the Phat 12s in their combo cabs...SD18s in that case...but I liked them a lot too. Sometimes the 4x12s show up stupid cheap...

Interesting. I think I'm sick of the greenies in my cab... LOL! :D

I know and kick myself for missing on the bid!

What do you think of $999 as a price for a SD80 on store clearance?

New or used? Either way it's a good deal and worst case scenario and u don't like it and have to sell it there's no way to loose any money at that price.

Probably the most tone-per-$ you will find anywhere, ever.

You'd pay at least that for a used one. If it's new, that's a steal.
