Well, I knew audio buffers changed the tone a bit. But, this presents something totally different - and with clarity.

This buffer will buff better than any other buffing buffer on the market. Check it out through a 100' extension chord.

They're a funny bunch there, but overall, they're stuff does work amazingly well.

Moral of the story.....don't use extension chord for audio cable!

I could hear a difference with the redeemer engaged with all 3 cables, although the difference between the 2 instrument cables was very slight. It was a good marketing piece, but no one is going to use a 100ft extension cord as an instrument cable, so not very realistic, it does get the point across.

The biggest questions I have is how it plays with fuzz pedals who typically don't like buffers and how does it play with other buffers in effects pedals? I found the redeemer engaged seemed clearer but it also sounded like it had much more treble, which is to be expected with a buffer.

I liked that you could switch it in and out of the guitar with a push pull pot. I have a Ilitch Silent backplate and put in a push pull pot to switch it in and out just in case, glad I did, since I have found that I notice its effects in clean and low gain (just where the backplate is not really needed), on higher gain I don't notice a difference and the lack of hum is nice. :)

Sounds the same doesn't it ?

Cool video and product. They have it available in a small box elsewhere on their site if you don't want to install it in a guitar.

The problem I find with that, is that some pedals I use do not play well with buffers. I use a dedicated buffer on my pedalboard and get those kind of results. If I put a buffer in my instruments, it will mess with my fuzz and auto-wah that I use.

It is a neat idea though. Basically, it's like putting an active circuit on a guitar with passive pickups. Bass manufacturers have been doing this for years. The only difference it that it doesn't have tone controls. Still, if I wanted active circuitry on my instruments, I would use active pickups. I still vote for a dedicated buffer on your pedalboard. You can get the same results.

I have the redeemer circuit in one of my guitars and its great. You can really tell a difference. Its more clear without adding treble, the touch is more dynamic and its pretty cheap.

I see they have an inline box and belt buckle pack. Is the moral here that one not need high end cables anymore and can just use cheap crap and still sound good? I have some good cable. Will this make my high end cable sound any better? How will sound with od and gain?

There's a million threads on TGP about tone loss, tone suck, digitized tone, plastic tone, buffers, tru bypass, hardware bypass. If this the sort of device that can take the guess work out of all of it? I'm sure the experts will nitpick or come up with something to complain about.

You get out of it what you put into it. I think you would find it is the summation of parts working together and what sounds best to one's ears.
I would not consider installing this is in my guitar but more effectively used in line.

I stuck one in my Ibanez Jem, my Strat and my Tele.
Took it out of the Jem.
Keeping it in the Tele because it preserves the high end and spank.
Keeping it in the Strat with vintage noiseless pickups - added in a push/pull switch to on/off it, because there are times when it's helpful and times when a bit of cable loss is what you want...

In hindsight, I think I would have been better to make my own belt-pack... I'd seriously consider trying that before installing one in your guitar - especially now that they sell them that way.

Ya, they gave me one to try. I just installed it in a box and put it on my pedalboard. They make some very cool stuff!
