Bugera on Craigslist

I think it does a great job of holding that stool on the ground.

Bugera doesnt get a lot of love around here because it's a lower budget amp and a lot of guys around here have a lot of cash. I had one for a bit, great tone for the dime without a doubt but they come with some spooky issues and at the end of the day it's a low cost amp. However, that said, I would take a Bugera over a valvestate or a lot of other cheap garbage.

Over Valvestate? Have you ever heard Chuck Schuldiner's tone in some of those Death albums? Not versatile, but does that style very well.

No way it's worth $329. They are only $399 brand new.

I suggest you save your money. I bought a TriRec - shipped - and returned it the same day. It had a bunch of issues.

They aren't well built so I wouldn't be comfortable gigging with one but for home/studio use they're worth consideration if you like the sound. I saw a player a couple years ago using one...it sounded fantastic, even when sharing the stage with a Mark V (which sounded great too).
It's amazing how great a cheap amp can sound when a player actually has good touch, technique, and feel.

Ladies and gentlemen... the most important piece of the tone puzzle.

Not an amp known for reliability, but if you're just playing at home Bugeras can be ok. That price is way too high though. If you want a 1960, get the newer Infinium version, it already has the 1 wire Randy Rhoads mod from the factory. And they can be found for around $300 or less if you look hard.

I bought one of the 1960 infiniums new last year after those EVH demos, sounded great, much better than I expected. Lasted 2 days then while I was playing it completely died, wasn't tubes or fuses so I had no idea. Sent it back and that was the end of Bugera for me.

I've had 2 Bugeras, a 333XL and a Trirec.

333XL still going strong. It easily a match for my XXX in tones. Yes it is more cheaply made, hence the lower price.

Trirec died within 20 hours of use. Send that back to zZounds and got my $ back. While it worked, she sounded great. Wasn't really a Mesa clone beyond the tube rectification stuff it had in it.

Would I buy another? If I had an urge for a new amp and didn't want to spend a lot of money, sure but I wouldn't buy generation 1 or 2.

Any amp can have problems.
It doesn't matter if it's a hand built boutique amp or high dollar mass produced, or low cost over seas mass production.
Certain brands have proven their reliability over the years, so those are less prone to problems.
Newer companies tend to have higher issue rates.
Point is NO amp maker can claim zero issues with their products.

Bugera is a high volume, low cost amp maker. And they sell a lot of amps.
Given the number of amps they sell, there are going to be more people reporting problems with them, it's the nature of percentages and numbers.
Plus, as everyone should now by now, the internet is FULL of people who will post when something goes wrong opposed to people who post just to say how they dont' have any issues with a product.
This is true on any forum for anything where we spend out money.

The V22 and V55 have had great reliability. The "Infinium" amps are next gen and they too are showing well.
Bugera gets quickly dismissed by those who won't even give it a chance just because it's low cost and over seas made.
The majority of people who are negative to Bugera products have probably never played one.

The over all tone of a certain amp may not be to someone's liking, but that even goes for a Bogner vs a Mesa, or Marshall vs a Fender.
Bugera's tube amps sound good and have very usable tones and features.
Whether or not that tone is great depends on what the player wants.
Bugera makes a wide variety of amps like old school voiced amps, amps with lots of tone shaping, high gain, multi channel, etc...

If you can get a nice sounding amp with good usable features for a fraction of some amps prices, then even if there may be higher potential for a failure, so what?
You pay a few hundred bucks and if something goes wrong you use the warranty and go on your merry way.
If it's past warranty you get it fixed and still go on your merry way with more money to spend on other things.

OP:
Check out new prices for Bugera's. They are very economically priced, so a used Bugera has to be really lowed priced to make it worth it.
