Building a brutal rig

When people say "brutal" I always say 5150. You can get as boutique as you like but that's the amp that wrote 1000 brutal cds.

Funny nobody's mentions Recto's. A properly tweaked and boosted Recto does modern brutal better than anything. The 50 million records and tours more than back up what I say. And I'm not a Recto guy at all.

Hello everybody my name is Jordan ,
and I have a problem I am a gear whore . I was told this would be the place to come to sort out my problems   .
I have just sold my axe fx ( ehhh) and me and my other guitarist are looking to build real amp rigs again . Before I had the axe I was playing a splawn quickrod and a engl fireball in stereo which was ok but no I want to go all out . I have been looking into getting 1-2 of the following , diezel vh4 , herbert , invader , uberschall or something similar . I want something thats multi channels like 4 with alot of bottom end ( Orange ppc412) I want that deep in your chest feel again not the nasty high end ice pick stuff from the axe fx . Originally we were thinking about doing engl invaders but we are now leaning more towards diezel herberts and vh4's to prevent any of the ice pick end . Any suggestions ?

VH4 with 6550s and Splawn Nitro with KT88'S in stereo.

+1. Something about those dark low mids man...I love my 6505. There is nothing refined about these amps.

A used 5150/6505+ through a vintage 30 cab and maybe also a cab with 75's should do the trick nicely, though a boosted Recto would also be nice. 8)

I have a 6505+ and a good older Carvin cab with 2 V30's and 2 EV12L's but wouldn't mind also having an Engl E530 rack setup to go through another 412 I have with V30's and believe that'd be a brutal setup, as well.

I have had the chance to play all of the said amps mentioned ..... But there were a few that really stood out and 2 specifically ....... Hint my amp is going to be custom built at the end of the month and its made in the US ......... Its by far the best amp I have ever heard and I would dare say is the most versatile amp out there right now you can get about any tone you want ........ Its made in Indiana :) ... The other one I might pickup down the road is a diezel herbert to run it in stereo .

Congrats on the rhodes, heard lots of cool tones coming out of them.

I have settle'd on a rig ...... I will post NAD's when I get them .......

Good luck with your new NAD's.

Welcome aboard!

For that Orange Cab with V30s, I would seriously consider an Engl Savage 120 (this was my old setup). If you want brutal, channel 4 on that thing is a force of nature. Better and meaner sounding than the Powerball, and it cuts like a knife.

Nah I played on savage wasn't my thing .. I ordered a rhodes colossus ..... I am considering getting a herbert to run it in stereo with as well maybe a vh4 instead :) that would be brutal .

how much is the collosus

Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the Diezels. I own a Herbert and I am blown away every time I turn it on. The amount of versatility in tone you can create out of one amp is very impressive.

Good luck on your build!

I want a fortin but its not gonna happen lol . Nobody is willing to sell me a natas
