Hi all,
I am currently building this guitar and would like to share some pictures, enjoy!
quick specs:
-A unique piece of salvaged Hard Rock Birdseye/Quilt Maple for the top
-Very old 'Rift Sawn' one piece Sapelli Mahogany neck
-Very old 'Quatersawn' one piece Sapelli Mahogany body
-West African Ebony fingerboard, 12'' radius, 25.5'' scale, 24 frets
top is glued to the body:
using my old template for tracing the body:
ready for the bandsaw:
cleaning up the bandsaw blade marks:
and this is what you get:
cutting the integrated armrest bevel and body contours:
routing the rear control cavity:
cutting the recess for the cover:
fingerboard slotted, ready for cutting the taper:
here is the very old 'rift sawn' neck blank:
truss rod groove is cut, now tracing the neck and headstock:
cutting out the one piece neck:
ready for gluying the fingerboard:
here I am using my 'marble table' technique to glue the fingerboard, the idea is to have it all glue perfectly flat with perfect even pressure all over the neck:
blending the fingerboard to the headstock face:
drilling the tuning machine holes:
working on the fingerboard radius:
ready for fretting:
carving the volute:
carving and shaping the neck with a file and hand plane:
centering the neck:
routing the neck pocket:
neck is now ready to be fitted for the first time:
more comming soon, thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed
