I've always wanted to be able to crank my amps at home instead of my bands rehearsal space. So now I'm building one in my garden!! Should be done in a month approx.

The build startet up yesterday but is already moving along :)

It's going to be about 18 square meters on the inside.

I will update this thread as it goes along :)

i like it, I think this is meant just for his amps/cabs...so I think it's a nice size...

At a bare minimum, you should have at least 2000 cubic feet internal volume for what you want to do.
That works out to about 57 cubic meters internal volume.
Assuming 8ft ceilings (2.4 meters), your internal finished footprint should be AT LEAST 23.27 square meters. ( 57 / 2.4 )
Sorry, but that space is going to be really uncomfortable to be in and sound like poo.

Very cool! Also very curious about the sound proofing measures.

Good luck with the build

where the fuck are you coming up with these numbers??? I played in rooms 8x10 that sounded great and 20x30 that sound like shit, its in the treatment and set up...the size will be fine for what you are doing... im sensing jealousy here...it will be great!

Seriously, my room is about 8x10 and have gotten some great sounds in it. You work with what ya got folks. Quit pissing on the guys project and be happy for him...Jesus

I can't comprehend the metric system. Can someone convert those measurements to inches and feet?

Congrats. Keep us updated. What are you going to do about heating and cooling?

Congrats man

As soon as I get back into a home again, I plan on creating a dedicated studio/playing space. Gonna install a fucking red cage light outside the entry door so the wife knows not to come nagging when its light up :D

The lowest note on a guitar tuned to A440 is 82hz. A bass would be 1 octave below that.
Once you calculate the wavelengths for those frequencies and then do some research into room modes and standing waves, you begin to understand the need for the dimensions I quoted.

I read the original post to mean he was building a second rehearsal space for his band. If he's just building a room to crank his amps in, then whatever, but as he is doing a full new build out, the small size just doesn't make any sense to me. Acoustic treatment in a room that small is difficult to do effectively, and will decrease the available floor space even more. I agree you have to work with what you have, but this is a brand new build. If that's as big as he can make the building, then that's it I guess. I hope it meets his expectations when it's finished.

I apologize for coming across like an a-hole, but the physics is what it is.

I have my set up in my walk in closet now. The sound in there has never been better. Cool project it's gonna be awesome!

Maybe I should out it different. I'm building a new home for my amps and guitars + beers and watching football. Not for band rehearsals.

It will not be too small.

That's seriously awesome! I'd love to be able to do something like this, maybe someday.

Looking forward to seeing the project unfold, keep us updated frequently.

This is one of the things that made me buy a house and move a bit out of the inner city of copenhagen. Wanted more space to unfold
