Here’s what I’m planning in signal chain order:

Guitar
Drop
Tuner
Mobius (pre)
Precision Drive
Riverside
Mobius (post)
ABY switcher
Amp inputs (Invective + TC50)
Amp sends
El Cap (stereo)
BigSky (stereo)
Ditto (stereo)
Amp returns

That should allow me to use both preamps, though I will get the dry sound of both preamps through both sides. I initially thought that might be bad but I think it will be a good thing. Delays and verbs will still be stereo.

Anything stand out as not-gonna-work? Any other thoughts?

Are you running two Mobius pedals? If not I don't understand the pre/post setup. If you are running two, why not put on in the loops with the time based stuff to get stereo modulation, that would be cool. You could also just run from the stereo output of the Mobius to the two amps with no ABY and get stereo modulation in front of the amps, or just put the ABY after one output of the Mobius to utilize a ground lift in needed for hum cancelling and still keep stereo mod.

Or you could skip one of the Mobius and the ABY all together and get an ES-8. The Es-8 would allow you to put the Mobius anywhere in the chain you want on the fly and eliminate tap dancing all these pedals. Also switch channels on your amps, switch patches on all the Strymon midi stuff and keep stuff out of the chain when not in use.

Good comments. Here’s my thinking.

I am using one Mobius. The Mobius can be run stereo OR in a pre/post setup so I can use it before or after other effects on a per preset basis. But if you set it up that way, you can’t use it in stereo. I’d rarely use its effects post gain, but on those occasions when I want to, I can run the amps clean and use the Riverside (and PD maybe; haven’t tested themselves together yet) for my gain. You’re correct that I could use another Mobius, but I feel like that’s a waste of money and space since I’d so rarely use it post gain. If I find myself really wishing I had a stereo chorus or something I suppose I could add another down the line...or use an ES8 or similar. On that...

The ES8 is pretty cool and is on my radar but I’m trying to keep the board from getting overpopulated; it’s already pretty crowded for my liking. I recently sold a GigRig G2. I have an ES8 pedalboard from custompedalboards in the UK and it’s great. It also fit the G2 perfectly but again, either of those chews up a lot real estate. But you do have me thinking about the ES8 again. Maybe I’ll take another look at it.

Ok, that makes more sense. Another thought to simplify channel switching and tap dancing and possibly replace the Mobius (not that you need to, its a great pedal) and the Aby. The Boss-MS-3. You could put your drive pedals in the loops and the effects are all available pre/post drive pedals. It also has midi out to control the Strymon time based effects as well and it has stereo outputs. Its not very big and could eliminate 2 potential other pedals while bringing all sorts of benefits from a switching standpoint...

Aside from that, your original thoughts seem like they would work to me if thats the way you want to go.

I feel like the ms3 doesn’t quite have the power and flexibility I’m looking for. I didn’t mention it in my original post but I have a Morningstar MC6 Midi controller, and their ML5 true bypass looper. It’s a pretty powerful setup for Midi. I’ll be controlling the Mobius, BigSky, PD and Riverside (both via the ML5), and both amps.

Nice. Well then I would think your setup should work.

I built the rig, adding a Mimiq after the BigSky. It’s completely amazing. No ground loop issues as far as I can tell and it just sounds immense. I love it when a plan comes together.

Congrats man! A stereo rig has always been a pipe dream of mine but I always end up pulling the plug after a long and incomplete setup process. Enjoy the beast tones!

Thanks! Figuring out the setup was tougher than I think it should’ve been. Doesn’t seem like that many people are using stereo rigs incorporating the both preamps and both FX loops. At least not that many people are explaining how they’re doing it lol. And of course I wanted to use my specific pedals. I could’ve done it a little easier if I’d used a Timeline.

Do it! Put together that stereo rig! :)

It goes a different way, but ever thought about starting with a Roland Jazz Chorus 120?
