Came across these two videos that were a good watch. A couple of people here and a certain new mayor might want to give them a look.
Though I'll probably get laugh emoji from the usual suspects if they pop into this thread.

Side bar. I didn't realize John Stossel was still kicking around doing stuff. Makes me think back to his old 20/20 reports.

OMG those videos play to the ignorant* by conflating communism with socialism and using the most extreme examples of each.

*Not meant in an insulting way - I'm using the dictionary definition. For example I am ignorant when it comes to quantum mechanics, plumbing and how fuel injection really works.

Let me continue with an example of socialism in the US today. Copy and paste follows

Examples of socialist-inspired, government-run, or taxpayer-funded programs in the U.S. include Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, public education, the USPS, and public infrastructure like roads and parks. These programs represent collective ownership or management of services, offering non-market-based access to essential goods and services.

So does that make the US a socialist country?

If this was TGP for example much like Socialist China Laputan would be banned now and JTK would be praised for his "conventional wisdom".....

But on Rig Talk, America, both point of views are allowed and one can see how common sense and the free market/capitalism makes a whole lot more sense than socialism/communism ever would or could.

And look at how they're running. This was briefly addressed in the monopoly part of Stossel's video. All those things you listed were created as a form of government intervention that ended up blocking competition in some way and stagnated innovation. It's really a smaller scale model demonstrating how socialism fails.

Americans have a vocabulary of 30 words and don’t know what half of them mean

Reply is buggy for me at the moment so I hope you guys remember that you posted these quotes...

Anyhow, since you never answered my question that means that you DO agree that the US is a socialist country. Checkmate bubbas. Checkmate. Try again later.

Hey deadbeat...about time you showed up and gave me the shits...again.

The US is 'trying' to be a socialist country which has been continually spearheaded ONLY by Democrats but you knew that.

Socialism is a con and a daily payoff that 99% of people fall for and 'falsely feel' they want, however, it can't be sustained and it then vaguely crosses into communism and ultimately that doesn't work either.

If you knew anything about humans and their 'needed' behaviourals, in order to survive longer in good mental condition you would understand what I'm talking about.

Hey @NoHassle . Check out the acting security chief at the DHS. I can tell, just by her name, that she might be the girl for you.

And Lenin never was wrong? Lol.

Hey *I* said the goal of capitalism is financial oligarchy. I've been wrong less times than Lenin. He was wrong over 10 million times. Me, I've never had anyone murdered for my own gain.

So I win. I'm right, Lenin is wrong.

Actually what's really wrong is trotting out a random out of context quote and assigning meaning to it that was never intended. But knowing that would require either a little research or knowing a little political history. And most wrong of all - thinking that Marxism and Socialism are even close to the same thing.

Lenin's goal himself was communism though, so in that overall context it makes sense that anything remotely along-the-road to it would be fair game... I think...

Yes, Lenin was a Marxist. I have no reason to doubt he said that and meant it, *in the context of his beliefs and goals* but not as a universal law that applies to every socialist country.

The issue I have when discussing socialism is that many people, smart people, have been told and now believe that socialism is communism and communism is evil. This goes back to 1945 (or earlier if you're a Winston Churchill fan) and it was fueled to fever pitch in the McCarthy era.

Marijuana = evil got the same treatment

You have NO idea what you're talking about.

Socialism is communism...If I get benefits from socialism ONLY because I formally financially contributed into the money pot that's collectivism which is a quasi socialist environment.

When I still get benefits WITHOUT contributing into the money pot that IS communism through and through. This HAPPENS extensively 24X7 and look at immigration alone to confirm this.

I am NOT my brother's keeper. I should be able to freely choose what I do with my earnings in real time at my 100% discretion.

My brother can only be my brother if he earns his place at the family table. This is what Capitalism actually achieves and keeps humans motivated and in good mental condition to contribute overall to an ongoing GROWING society.
