Buyers remorse

Had exactly this happen a few years ago.
Here is what I did. I said take it to a local tech. If he can find anything wrong I will pay to have it repaired. I said if the tubes were bad I would 1/2 the cost of what was replaced. I think the tech modded the footswitch cause there was a slight pop that I never noticed. Cost me $30.
Felt like I did right by the guy, and was a lot cheaper than shipping amps back and forth and lost paypal fees.
But yeah guy was an ass.

How is someone too old to learn to play all over again, but somehow never played a Plexi style amp?

Seems to me (based on the message you posted) that he's feeling a bit foolish, and looking for reassurance.

As far as a refund goes, I'd be polite, but firm; not your fault he didn't understand what he was purchasing.

Be thankful he isn't trying to make up some "issue", to secure a refund. :D

...OHHHH but he is raising issues. Says the amp doesn't sound right. And he's been playing since 1984 and knows what an amp should sound like.
In on message he says he cant get it to sound right. Then another says with pedals in front it's killer tone wise.
Now he says the amp just sounds like shit.
As the title on the thread states, "Buyers Remorse"

He wants to sell it but can't because he would never sell an amp that sounds this bad to anyone else.

He's not used to how THIS amp sounds. Not your problem. He already said he is used to playing more modern amps with preamp gain and compression. Just a different beast. He should easily be able to sell this as there is a large market of folks who want a more open, vintage and uncompressed tone that are happy using pedals to get what they want. Tell him it's his amp. Instead of putting all this effort into contacting you multiple times while making up excuses he could have taken pictures of the amp and write up a simple description for any one of the plethora of gear forums' classified sections. gOOD LUCK!

He bought at working unit, he owns a working unit, he doesn't like the working unit. End of story. Cheers, LUcius

gimmie a F***ing break. amp recieved as described, transaction over.!

This right here!

Short, sweet and to the point.

Check this out.
The amp builder,Mickey, from Soultone amps seen my post on The Gear Page.
He chimes in and OFFERS to fix it (if there is an issue)
and send it back...FOR FREE.
Just pay the shipping to get it there.

He tells me in "another pm" that everyone wants him banned and he's been made to look stoopid.
And he will take care of it on hi s own

His name has never been mentioned.

That was just mean...LMAO

I had a similar thing happen to me. But I was the buyer.
Splawn first came out with the Nitros. Everyone loved them and raved them. I was drooling.
I bought one as soon as I saw one come on the market. Think it was #7.
I did not like it. :aww:
Tried several different things.....still didnt like it. So I sold it.
Not sure why the guy 'fighting' this amp is your problem.
If he dont like it then sell the damn thing. Pushing it back on you is just lame and retarted.

I would tell him see if it sounds better shoved up his old ass. Maybe he isn't too old to learn to do his research next time before buying something. I say out the asshat I sure don't want to deal with him. WTF is going on with these online people who act like a forum transaction is like dealing with GC or some other chain. Damn this shut pisses me off.

I had this same thing happen 3 yrs ago, with a well respected member of this forum(he's not on much anymore). Sold him a Cameron Marshall, it took longer than usual to get to him. Used USPS, my mistake. Then he said it was packed like shit and it didn't work, could he have a refund? At the same time I looked in the classifieds here, he had it for sale! Said it was killer, sounded great...he just didn't like the tone. WTF? It sold in 2 days.....lol

Has the guy never played a plexi? What was he expecting exactly, blows my mind the whinging bs people will write when behind a computer. He would never try this nonsense face to face I'm sure.

...I had a trade for a few Yamaha Pacificas (921's) I owned for some amp stuff. The guy gets them, and says, "These aren't made in USA". Really? No shit? They're YAMAHAS for F's SAKE!!...
The necks might've been USA if the guitars were early ones. Ken Warmoth's shop built all the 900 series Pacifica necks for the first few years.
