In all seriousness I've never had one of my used but 'strong' tubes go bad. But I've had 3 amps give me problems, one twice. The first EVH 5153 50 I had cut out here and there. Brand new amp, new preamp tubes. Shit tubes. Threw in some Chinese Bs in there and sounded better and no more cutting out. Had a Marshall VM and at a gig it had no sound in the middle of the set. Changed out ALL tubes and problem solved. All Marshall labeled new production tubes. A pair of brand new KT88s. One redplated immediately so another shit new production tube. So my experience is newer tubes are shit and I don't trust them. I won't pay for NOS prices but there are deals to be had on used tubes, I paid 20 bucks for a pair of Siemens el34s that I've used for numerous gigs and sound as good as Winged Cs to me in my Marshalls. I paid 30 bucks for a lot of 12ax7s that had 7 Chinese, 2 RCAs, 2 Tungsrams....all have been reliable. I bought a bias rite and do my own biasing so no tech needed so far. Some guys have had better luck with new tubes and good for them. Me, I'll stick with my cheapo used vintage tubes.

wellllll you test your own tubes you must be a tech or something thats good cool good for you ive had the original stock tubes in a bugera for 5 years and they still work ill sell you some old mullards from my CLX you want em one of em is clearly burning out but you can test em cuz you test tubes this is all about you and your tubes not about this guy getting a new amp its about you and your tubes your here to tell everybody that buys an amp to buy used tubes and test them yourself so tell me how the fuck do i test my own fuckin tubes to put your old shit in my 4000 dollar amp your just giving skitzo advise with your fat head who the FUCK are you talking to shut the fuck up who pays you to put someones old tubes in their fuckin amp nobody huh there ya go im 15 like your a fuckin amp technician
No FUCKO I'm not a tech you DIPSHIT but I can bias an amp and was merely suggesting that if he buys a new amp and he has problems its probably tubes..cuz new tubes are unreliable. Now go fuck yourself you thin skinned Fucktard.

your saying like if you buy a new amp you should buy a bias thing and buy a bunch of old tubes someones already used for 2 years and test them instead of having someone select brand new ones for you ok that makes about as much sense as replacing your filter caps with someones old ones no what would be good advise would be to do it exactly backwards from what your saying good advise would be to buy an old used amp that your looking for for half price and put NEW tubes in it have a professional test NEW ones for you because they DO that amp shops test NEW tubes so you DONT get BAD ones and then they bitch to the tube company about how 1 out of 5 was bad you dont buy the TUBES used you buy the AMP used and you get NEW ones

i dont think me or any of you know anything about tubes at all. my fryette just came back and everything in it says ARS

you should just get a clean and dirt box or buy a used setup, save up for a wizard and be done with amp purchases. what music do you play? IMHO, I don't think the 5150 sounds much like a marshall but a fender.

EVH 5150iii 50w all day long!!! best bang for the buck and is hard to beat on tone. I have one and also a EVH 5150iii Stealth. Love both amps. I gig regularly. 5150iii no matter the wattage is a true work horse!

This BAALINCINERATOR guy is a bit rude eh?

Maybe he can go and have anal sex with his bugera perhaps ? Might take the edge off.

How about a used Splawn? I've never played one, but they seem to be versatile and reasonably affordable.

Or a used Laney?

I've got my band together, . . . .
EVH 5150 III 100W MSRP is low and it sounds great at any setting. You'll need to rename your band to "Tonal EHSx".
