One of my clients found one of my Scumback 69 spec straight cabs at Sam Ash in Florida on Saturday. They had no idea what they had. The cab had the EC Pinstripe Grill Cloth, plus added on Marshall gold 6" and 100 logos, and the client had put in four of the Hendrix reissue Celestion G12C Greenbacks in it. I would give it an 8.5 out of 10 for condition. A couple of tolex scuffs, and 2 nicks.

They had it priced at $899.

He came back on Sunday, offered them $600 cash, and he went home with it for $644 with sales tax.

Originally that cab was $1349, plus shipping unloaded (EC Pinstripe is a $450 upgrade, plus the $100 for the logos).

My guess is those G12C's were $600-800 on the open market, plus shipping.

So hey, go to Sam Ash...go check their used cabs for sale...they're clueless. I told him I'd buy it if he didn't!

Nuts!

Jim

Awesome! Love hearing about good deals like this.

Jim, are you in AZ? How is everything?

my local sam ash they are pretty knowledgeable, guitar center i cant say the same though, i went there for some drum things the other day and was excited to see a rather cute chick working the drum department, she was working with someone else who wanted a double pedal, problem is she didnt know what a double pedal was ?

Nice! Long ago I had a VM B cab that sounded killer; it was an early one from 07 with those G12Cs. I sold the cab, then talked to the Marshall rep in Chicago about buying some Cs and they were 250 apiece.

Yep, in AZ. The long torturous move that started last October is over, but I still have 15-20 boxes to unpack and sort. The movers I hired were idiots. I'm finding ROKU streaming players/remotes in with my car repair receipts, and Oral B40 toothbrush heads in with my speaker building tool box. Every day is a surprise! Argh!

Look for mojotone watchtower speakers. Celestion G12c with mojo sticker on it ala EVH heritage speakers. I bought a pair for $150. Maybe I should remove the sticker and sell for $300 apiece ?

Haha this is hilarious. It’s like a treasure hunt.

I’ve never used movers, although I probably would now. Moving absolutely sucks.

We used a mover 5 yrs ago. They broke cabinets, Scared up wood floors.
Ohio state law protects them from being sued for full value amounts.

Oh, major score on the cab.

The statue of liability laws could be different in your neck of the woods.
But still;
Rent truck
Keg of beer.
Bunch of strapping young lads or the over the hill gang of buddys
Woman unboxing
Thats cheaper than your shit getting broke

Serious score OP! SF Bay Area has some guitar centers that are clueless at times. My friend scored an SLO for a hair under 2k. It wasn’t even supposed to be sold yet as it was on some sort of hold, but he got them to let it go.

Oh yes, moving sucks, and it seems to generate an unusually disproportionate amount of stress for what it is. I remember last time I moved and my stress levels were hitting stage 10 nuclear annihilation mode. I could not even figure out why I was stressing, but I was, and wildly at that!
