I am running a W/D/W rig. I want to know if the 2 cables that I am running from my G Force to my power amp make a difference tone wise? I am using 2 TRS Gepco cables that run from the G force to the in of my power amp. I would say Gepco are along the lines of Canare or Mogami quality wise. I am thinking about upgrading them to Evidence audio lyric HG. Im just wondering if it's worth it or not? My guitar cable and pedal board cables are all Vandenhull. Which I do notice a big difference with these cables. Thats why I paid the huge dollar amount for them. Any help would be great.

For the experiment, you could try out 2 of the VDH's in place of the Gepco's (plug straight into the amp, don't use the board)

Cant. I need TRS cables for the g force to the power amp. My Vandenhull's are all standard jacks.

Just a very general answer for you ... All the cables in your rig, both instrument and speaker, make a difference. I recently went through a mega cable shoot out here at the studio, and was surprised there was such a drastic difference. For my taste's. I do favor the Mogami cables. The Mogami Platinum is the best sounding instrument cable I've ever heard ... but to be fair, I did not play the cables you mentioned.

Bottom line, try different cables and let your ears be the judge!

I would stick with the VDH. I have tried many cables and noticed some are more brighter and some darker sounding. This maybe the reason many prefer one over another. With Van Der Hull, this is not the case. That cable is on another level. The clarity and the feel is just enhance. It is one of them cables you know a difference immediately IMHO. I plan on changing all my cables when I get the money. I am going to redue my pedal board with VDH Bay C5 cable and replace my cabinet speaker wire and speaker cable with VDH. It seems you already have the most expensive part done. Good Luck!

There may be a slight difference, but nothing like your first cable - if it's coming off the Gmajor, then it's not going to suffer from as much tone loss as a passive guitar.

BTW, Gepco Xband cable kicks ASS - I have some mogami and canare, the Xband sounds a bit better to me. I need to find someone local to do a shootout with the more expensive cables like you have, but the stuff I have now is pretty sweet.

IMO I think the most important cable is guitar to amp and speaker cables. I just am not sure how much of a tone difference (If any) the cables going from a processor to power amp are going to make. I might just do the Evidence HG because im a nuerotic idiot.

Make sure you rewire the guts of your speaker cabs if you like to use high quality speaker cables. Most cabinets are wired with pretty wimpy stuff. =
