Cables..... help.

The Mogami instrument cable is great. There may be better stuff out there, but I think it's hard to beat the bang-for-buck value of building your own Mogami+Neutrik cables. Never tried the speaker wire, so I have no idea on that.

Are you using those large 1/4" plugs for the instrument cable, too? Never tried that myself, I have been using the 'normal' sized Neutriks (NP2C/NP2C-B) for that.

yeah, figured for the price I'd give 'em a try.... it's a late fathers day gift from the ole lady. :D should've ordered the more expensive ends, but was trying to be frugal for the wifes sake ;)

cool, like them so far? I'm switching from Planet Waves to building my own, no problem with the PWs just need more and it's cheaper to build them.

I use Mogami to the front of my amp and for the FX loop send and returns and they sound great.

Where do you get the Gepco wire from? I haven't had much luck finding a place that sells it by the foot and unterminated.

I hear you, saving money is the whole reason I decided to make my own. Let us know how the cable does going in to the open end of the barrel. That was where my concern was, that the normal Neutrik strain relief (plastic clip inside, whatever it's called) wouldn't grip the cable firmly enough.

Since you're "switching" from PW (not to be confused with PW: PigWeed ;) )... wouldn't that mean you're technically paying "double" since you've already paid for your PW setup?

Juggernaut has the best display picture.

Here's a free bump so that I can come back and lurk later, since I'm also looking for better cables.

When I was using a Mogami for my main cable I had switched from a Planet Waves & I was happy with the switch.

read the quote of what I said again ;)

Anyone sell Mogami 3302 (or equivalent) in bulk?

The "3302" wire is what Mogami use in their Platinum wires, and I am not seeing it in bulk anywhere.

I'll check with my friend, he was going to get some but you had to buy at least 150' so he went with something else, I do know it was very spendy for the Mogami though.

I went down today to buy 100' feet, but what they showed me was not the same as what is used in the Platinum series cords.

Mike,

Those are all fine choices. solder away.

other nice cable stuff:

Canare GS4
Canare GS6
Switchcraft silent jacks
Redco House brand instrument cable (excellent, sounds/feels like Canare GS6)

The only stuff I would stay away from:

Gotham GAC-1 = the rubber actually slides down the cable and compresses. I HATE it.
Redco house connectors = flimsy tabs compared to the Neutrik ends, for almost the same price
