So, the jsx is working out great through my buzzbomb, not so great through my converted 6505 212 cab (which is not a great cab haha). Ive got eminence legend M12s in the EC, and V12s in the 6505 cab. Im wondering what you guys use with this amp. Im considering looking for another buzzbomb, but I think it might be better to try something different at this point. Im REALLY leaning toward vader cabs. Either a 212 or a 412. I have a feeling the speakers are going to be VERY similar to my M12s. I wont be looking to buy for a few weeks, maybe a month, depending on how much the cab is gonna cost me and if I can find a deal.

But anyway, what do you guys use with your JSXs...

I use a Mesa 4x12 with 70 watt V30's and a Randall 2x12 with 60 watt V30's together with the JSX set to 4 ohms.
Doesn't get much better sounding than that.

I bet thats beastly sounding. Too many cabs for me though lol. How do the V30s handle the midrange of the JSX? I typically am not a fan of V30s, and the midrange of the JSX plus the midrange of the V30s would make me not even think to try that combination...

The Peavey board guys tend to recommend one of the Sheffield speakers that's essentially a V30 (I think the 1230?)

I mainly use the ultra channel which is quite compressed sounding naturally. I keep the mids at 4/10 because it like the sound of the V30's mids better than the amps mids. The balance is very pleasing.

Cool thanks. Ive got it running with eminence legends right now...I think the speakers would sound immensely better in another cab...the 6505 converted to a 212 is just not cutting it...

Ive read that the speakers in the JSX cab match very well with the amp, but Im not sure that cab is worth paying for when I could get something way better for about the same price...

I don't like the JSX cab at all. The speakers are very fizzy, mushy and sizzley sounding. Little defintion and no oomph to them. They are supposed to be high wattage speakers, but they sure distort and lose clarity fast.

The other guitarist in my band plays his JSX through the cab. It sounds pretty good, but its fairly dark and somewhat muddy. I tend to like a slightly brighter tone and a SHIT TON of clarity (which is why I use hellbabys in everything...to really get that clarity. They even make muddy amps sound clear). So Im pretty sure Im not looking for that cab.

Hey Raf, I totally agree with the comments regarding the JSX and V30s -- if that's the route you go, you'll probably want to scoop the mids on the JSX a little more and let the natural mid hump of the V30s round out the sound.

Just take the amp to a bunch of music stores and experiment with different cabs...and if you can, record your tests for later reference (even an iPhone will do).

Well...this is just my opinion.

I really liked the JSX through an old 5150 cab with the sheffields that came in those cabs. The 5150 cabs always had a bit of a scooped sound to my ear, combine that with the mids of the JSX or the 5150 heads and to me that's why they sounded so good. It also sounded real good through my Greenback loaded cab and my GT-75 loaded cab as well...with the 75's it was a little finnicky as you'd have to watch your mids.

Overall though, I'd recommened an old 5150 cab...you can find those things dirt cheap.

Btw/ not a fan of the JSX cab and not real fond of the JSX with anything V30's.

Thanks for the tips guys. There are a couple 5150 cabs on CL right now for cheap. I still havent decided yet, though...
