For WDW rigs, how would one set up the CAE mixer so that it is fed by an amp line out, but no dry signal (only wet signal) is coming from the mixer main outs / Wet speakers ??

the "dry" amp head or preamp in the wdw rig feeds the effects via line out signal derived from a load box of some kind if it's a head, or preamp send, or slave ou if the amp has itt, and then split out to the effects.

the dry line level signal never needs to be inserted into the mixer, that is what the dry amp/cab is for. it just has to feed the effects inputs. in the case of a preamp you have to run a separate power amp for that dry signal as well as the stereo power amp for fx. matrix makes a nice compact 3 channel power amp for just that need.

So how would you feed multiple FX racks in a WDW system with just 1 line out from an amp ??

by using a splitter
rane sm26 is a splitter/mixer and you can visit their website to see how this is done
behringer also makes a similar splitter

i have a rocktron rack interface which is a single rackspace 1 in/5 out splitter with optional buffer and an 8 channel stereo mixer divided into 4 x 4 with a mix 1 and mix 2 config with independent volume controls, balanced XLR stereo outputs, headphone out, built in wah and volume circuits, cab emulation, and an input for external sources like a line level monitor send from the FOH which you can blend with the mixer output for an in ear monitor rig

if you are looking for a way to mute the dry path, you can control it with an amp selector/switcher as long as the device safely loads the dry amp and can mute the path to the dry cab.

zachman has this capability in his bradshaw rig.
