Calling all Superlead Experts

Just my opinion but if it is set up anything like a Superlead, even with a MV, a loop is essentially useless. Most of the distortion in a Super Lead is in the phase inverter and power section. The best way to run a loop for ambient delay or reverb is after distortion so you’ll need a Powerstation or equal.

I use a Powerstation with my Metro JTM45, volume and for the loop.
I just bought the loop for my amp from Metro.
Should I not install it and just continue to use the PS loop?

Or a line out box....then any separate power amp cheap to spendy will do + a stereo cab or just run 2. IMO sounds better than any attenuator; and a decent distortion pedal last before the amp can work well as a MV. As long as you want to play with gain vs a clean tone.

Yep that’s exactly what I do. I sold the Powerstation a while ago. I sometimes use the word ‘Powerstation’ generically…for any reactive load, line out, power amp rig.

If it is a Master volume type like a 2203 I would absolutely install a loop. For non Master Volume amps like a JTM45 or Superlead I would never install a loop and would use a Powerstation or equivalent.

Most 18W I know of are typically non-Master volume amps. You can always ADD master volumes to non-master volume amps. But if they get their distortion from the PI and power section like old Marshalls and Voxes, you still can’t put a useable loop in it.

Some companies actually do put useless loops in their amps knowing full well they are not very useful. But all the salesmen and literature can honestly say; “Yep, it has a loop.”

I built an 18 watt TMB with MV.
Not really a fan of the MV and have actually wondered lately if I could make it a trem model.

All that grey wiring looks like shielded wiring to quiet the amp down. Could be extremely RF sensitive.

I’m not sure where it is in the circuit but I had an Origin 20 briefly that is basically a pre PI master 1959/87 amp and delay and reverb in the loop sounded great when the amp was cranked up.
