Played both amps at the same time, location, same speakers, cabinet with my guitar and cable. I had heard a lot of good things and good reviews on TGP that peaked my interest for the PT100. The PT100 is a bright sounding amp (on channels 1 and 2, more so than the CCV), I could not dial out the high end no matter how hard I tried. "Channel 3" has more gain than I would use, very modern sounding. Just did not care much for the voicing on Ch. 3 which also probably means the bass did not stay together tight. At that point, it looses the articulation that the CCV100 and Cameron amps excel in. For my tastes, I found the "thump" toggle switch unusable. Like yourself, an amp must have a focused, tight bottom end for it to be considered a candidate for me to purchase. The CCV100 has that. You probably already know, but the CCV100 also has a "solo boost" which essentially gives you the same tone, but at a higher adjustable volume that you select. The PT100 is a good amp but not would I would consider great by my rating system- the CCV is a great amp. I found the CCV to be more organic sounding which I know may sound a bit too subjective. The stock Cameron 4x12's come loaded with Celestion G12H30 (70th Anniversary) speakers. If you already have a cab loaded with them in it and are currently using that with another amp(s) that likes that speaker, you are do not have to concern yourself with purchasing another cab wondering if another speaker would go best with it, already done. I found the CCV to have more usable features that are believable and voiced realistically whereas, the bright selectors on the PT100 not as accessible to dial in a good tone. I am not sure, but I thought I read where Pete Thorn and Suhr may be working on, if not already completed, another version of the PT100. I think the CCV has more of a ripped, 'pissed off' Marshall tone. I have a couple mic'd clips here where you can listen to the CCV in action if that helps any.

If he wants straight modded Marshall....I would go Friedman SS100.
Yeah, I hear you Todd but I think the CCV has more gain, wouldn't you say from what we heard from the NAMM Show?
It appears that you may not have the chance to try both out for yourself to see what fits best, otherwise that is what I would recommend. If you purchased either amp and decided you did not like it, you would be able to flip either- just a matter of how much you would loose in the process.
