I actually met guitarslayer, another RigTalker, and he lives 10 minutes from my house. He gets to play everthing and is borrowing my Colossus this week

I am very generous with my stuff. I wish I could have everyone over

I'm in W Babylon. You can leave any of your amps any time!

Having both production run amps and the more boutique type like the cherry bomb, to really understand the difference is being experienced enough to hear good tone and shit components. To achieve that super high gain ,you need good components and the time and care to test them against each other to find the rite mix. Guys like Henning, Friedman, Cameron, and Rhodes have it nailed !I would trust my $$$ with any of them

May I ask jus how in the heck one can get a CCV except for a rare used one?

Isn't production halted?

I was just wondering the same thing. These things would sell pretty good if they where available. But too much drama surrounding the whole brand name at this time me thinks.

Edit "Please disregard above post, my subconscious took over my sanity."

Used CCVs ARE out there...I found one right here on the forum. But if you'd rather have a new one, google Mark Cameron Amps, there is a new Facebook page. Mark has parts and is supposedly building amps again with a member of this forum as the business guy. They have pics of circuit boards unloaded and loaded, so production must be ramping up. They're talking about a limited run of 100 rackmount CCVs and unlimited "regular" CCVs plus a lunchbox amp and cabinets down the line. NO preorder money needed. Just buy from existing stock.

Oh nice, we are neighbors too

What'ya got? anything good? ;)

Morris Perplex'd incoming. That's the only high gainer. Also incoming a Hi-Tone Jimmy Page model (Hiwatt clone) and Germino Fillmore 100. Going back to old school type amps for the most part. It always comes back to I'm able to get a huge variety of sounds via pedals and vintage style amps

You need the secret handshake and once you do ur on double secret probation ...

In many ways i completely agree with you. I just put together a pedalboard and im able to get a nice variety of textures with a few pedals. My main amps are my 2204 clone, and YJM at this point and im pretty much just slamming them with different OD's to get different tones. I think vintage styled single channel amps rock! the only "modern" appointment i would need is an effects loop. I can't wait to hear those amps you have incoming. The perplex'd sounds awesome from what i could tell.

I have owned VHT/Fryette, Mesa, Marshall, etc. My Splawn has beaten all the know, higher end available production amps. I never thought I'd be happier than I was with my VHT/Fruette's but man the Splawn just absolutely KILLS!

Henning, Friedman, etc. are all amazingly built amps and I am sure will yield you the results you are looking for but value for dollar, (which is relative to the buyer) no one beats Splawn's offerings IMHO.

My favorite tones are old Dokken, Ratt as well as Accept, Maiden, King Diamond all the way up to In Flames. The Splawn Quick Rod will nail all of them.

Steve, plaease understand my statement as this, I would LOVE to buy a Henning. No doubt, and one day I may (actually looking to buy myself a nice 40th birthday present in Sept). Generally folks that want to spend Cameron, Henning, Rhodes money will not add lower price point offerings in their posts which tells me the real question was, will the Splawn satisfied the OP's tone quest.

I certainly would not intentionally talk someone out of a more costly option. I know amp builders passion to create something excellent will certainly pay more dividends then actual sales. It's like trying to survive being a musician. Gotta do it cuz you love it.

THIS

Plus, you can find used Quick Rods (and sometimes Nitros) at the $1,000 mark. That is damn hard to beat. At that price point you can afford to get several killer amps used.

Many thanks for help, after did some research on youtube, to my ear the Cameron CCV is sound best, but so sad it's difficult to get one and it seems have some loud hum noise,
At first I tend to 3 or 4 independent channels and midi control amp, therefore Rhodes colossus to be a good choice, but the Friedman BE100 seems have more harmonics and slightly vintage flavor in modern sounding, so I may go to Friedman BE100, because I think the sound itself is more important than functions .

As I / we / know the amps you have, I / we / always expect your clips...very impatiently. Rock on, rockinchippy.

If you wanna save some cash and re-live the 80's get an ADA MP1 and be done with it. To me that 'is' the tone of the 80's. Add a little chorus that's built right in and wham your rocking like Dokken....

This. Awesome suggestion. I am a tone child of the 80s and the MP1 is the 80s in a box. You don't need a "modded" one, either (unless it is for lower noise :) ). They had a sh*t-ton of gain on tap.

Of the modern boutiquey stuff mentioned, I'd probably narrow the orig list down to QRod, BE100, M90, roughly in order of preference. But that is a lot of dough to get that tone, really.

As soon as I get back to Canada I will be on the hunt for a CCV. I love the tones I am hearing Alex.
