Cameron Hot Mod with stock master volume Marshall JMP

Tone is subjective. I don't know why you would need this gizmo when any good JMP style amp with a good overdrive will get you there.
My Mesa MK III/MK IV or Dual Rec would destroy that V-2 toy.

Well, it was originally designed for a non-master volume Marshall so you can get a cranked Marshall sound without the need for an attenuator. Having owned a non-master volume Marshall since 1990 and played them on 10 more times than I can count, I was floored how close my amps sound by using a simple plug in device. I’m just showing that it also works in a master volume JMP as well. I agree a good pedal out front of a Marshall JMP sounds killer. The plug in device sounds very different than solely using a pedal out front.

I’ve owned all of the amps you listed and they are cool, but obviously the Marshall sound is quite different and those amps can’t sound like an old non-master volume Marshall and Marshall can’t sound like those amps.

Ive never played a Marshall Major but the loudest NMV Marshall ive played is a 67 Super Bass and this device would be incredible im guessing with that.

This video has is the 1980 JMP with the plug in unit and a VFE Standout out front to add a tiny bit of gain and compression. The Dragon will sound similar.

Killer. That’s the one for me then...the Hot Mod V2 is killer with my 2203 but doesn’t jive well with my stock 72 SuperTrem. I double boost and it’s amazing but if I can get more out of the circuit this way, I’d bet it’s even better.

Do you double OD boost or clean + OD ? I'm clean boost into OD for lead in most cases and ride an OD for rythms. So far, nothing beats it and I find myself boosting the higher gain stuff I have anyway to tighten the low end so why not just have a great low-mid base tone and boost that.

Double boost..the 72s sweet spot is literally 1 on the high treble volume, and 5-6 on the Rhythm side. Then kick on both boost pedals; SD1 tone at 9am level/gain at noon, OD1X everything at noon. Pretty thick and saturated with Wizard like clarity. Through a 72 and 74 Marshall slants with original GBs.
It’s my favorite amp and it’s not close.
