Man I honestly never dig anything Cameron but that is fukkin sweet. Feels so complex and harmonic. Perfect demo playing for the sound, you really nailed it! Nice score Steve.

Thanks. I scored it a while back though. Mark's Jose's are fairly textured/layered with the bottom end and top end. This one had been passed around to quite a few over the years. Probably one his better ones that I have owned.

Forget the diodes. My Jose has dual bright switches for added gain and the five way rotary. I prefer diodes off and to hit the front with just a little boost. Sounds excellent this way. Big thick tone, great low end, no harshness. Huge thumping tone that cleans up as well. I found a great no noise added boost in the Caroline Icarus. Quietest pedal I have ever heard. The Cameron Jose has its own tone without diodes. Joses are all not created equal. Just ask Joe Holmes :D

They should have named it "The Disposable Marshall" mod because nobody is gonna be able to fix that thing if it breaks down. Same reason I sold my Aldrich.

Man that sounds so good steve... damn it Man Im GAS'n for one of marks amps.

Good wiry rich harmonic grind. What's not to like?

Yeah... I like amps almost harsh. I dial up the bass when jamming at home and take it back to what would normally sound a touch harsh when playing with a bassist.

The Randy Rhodes isolation tracks sound quite harsh. But they are cutting magic in the mix.

I think it sounds very cool but would like to hear how it sits in a full mix myself.

Sounds excellent to my ears. Even after being recorded digital, and played back via digital... The bottom-end is musical, the mids are clipping at optimal frequency, and the highs are not offensive in the least. Symmetrical clipping with a perfect balance of even/odd order feedback harmonics. He's not even pushing it that hard, yet it has a power-tube like break-up. This is one of the most unique sounding clips I've heard yet. You should consider purchasing an older Sony Super-8 analog off of ebay to record clips with. AAD vs ADD It's not a huge difference, but every little bit helps.

Wiry is a term that's not used enough to describe Marshalls. Thought I was the only one!

Amazing how different we all are when it comes to our amps.. some people think it is the tone while some others like me thinks it sounds buzzy and like excessive diode clipping.

Very true, I can here the diode hash miles away. Zeners are the worst.

The CCV and other CA amps use (2) 2N5400 PNP transistors using the emitter-base as a 5volt clipping diode. This was Jose's favorite clipping circuit. Others use a (2) MPSA06 NPN Transistors in the same manner, their clipping threshold is 4volts.

The highly coveted Jose modded amps use these PNP and NPN transistors instead of the highly common Zeners and 1N4747A diodes, they have a slighlty more open feel to them, but still have the familiar compressed buzzy top end.

many people grew up with this tone, thus they love it, and others hate it. Just a matter of taste.

Curious...in wiring this, what's done with the collector? Base and collector together...BC becoming the cathode and E the anode?

So wiring these in series would be BC-E--to--E-CB?

The collector is not connected, they are wired in series with the bases connected.
