My Friedman is awesome. You will not be at all unhappy. But whichever one you decide to go for, chances are good you will still want the others. It's called GAS. Where you are never completely satisfied unless you are waiting on gear, watching tracking info, or reading about what you do not have. :loco:

G.A.S.  absolutely true! so sad,we are :aww: :D
It's better and cheaper than allot of other things. Well, maybe not cheaper.

HELL YEAH,bro! ;) i'd rather blow dough on amps than sittin' on a bar stool paying some guy's daughter's college tuition

5 years and my amp search is done, Fortin is my builder. Yeah I have heard other great amps from the NJ boys done by Mark that are stupid good as well, could be happy with any of them. In the end I have formed a great relationship with Mike so he is my man. It came down to the man and his knowledge as well as ultra clean work and attention to detail. The feel that Mike gets is the cherry on the top, Mike is an incredible player and builds his amps the way he would want them to feel, fighting an amp all the time for me is just not very pleasant. Stock marshalls yes but modded high gainers? Hell no.

Seriously if you are bouncing around flipping any of the top marshall modders amps you are just wasting time and chasing your tail anyways. Talk to them and pick one, all put out great products.

I am floored with my Marsha. I could easily sell off my other amps and live with the Marsha alone.

Thanks guys. Lots of good stuff here. I'll most likely go with a kitchen sink. Id rather have the total package at that price range anyway.

smart man ;)

You guys know Friedman is my boy, he has not only worked on all my amps over the years but he has also taught me a lot about tone and helped propel my career as a producer by helping me gets some of the meanest guitar sounds out there. I say that first so there's no question where my allegiance is at. With all that said I do not think Friedman's mods sound like Mark's mods. I have played a few CCV's and a few Cameron modded Marshalls. Marks work sounds harder and edgier to me, Dave's sounds fatter and warmer. So it all depends on what you want. For me Dave's work really translates well to the modern sound and not to say Mark's doesn't but I think a lot of today 'Jose' style mods are geared toward either guys into 80s music or shredders. Dave's amps are used by everyone; pop, rock and metal because his mod and amp style fits into today's sound perfectly. Anyway, this is just my opinion, both guys do fabulous work and you would probably be happy with whatever you choose.

Would not say you were wrong, you have WAY more experience than I do in the music biz but that said my fortin Cali mod can do face ripping metel to Robin Trower BOS to funk. Of course the way I ordered it I would have to run back to the amp to change some settings.

Jose is a great way to open with what the amp is about BUT imo the builders have aken it to the next level.

I do agree though that all of the players listed on this thread deliver very good sounding amps

I haven't tried a Fortin. The clips I've heard sounded great.

Here is my list of amp modders that do things,
that make an amp sound good and worth owning.
The wait times, or difficulty to own any of these not with standing.
Also, I am not listing these in any particular order.
Just Say'n
Steve Segal/ Plexi plus, FJA Mods/Jerry Pinnelli, Dave Friedman,
Mike Fortin,Martin Golub, Mark Cameron, Scott Splawn,
John Suhr, and many others that could be installed on this list.
But I am tired of typing. ;)
All have awesome skills, and produce killer sounding stuff,
in their own way.

This is what I like to hear. Id actually prefer more of a modern and warm tone. Seems to me what Dave is doing is what I want if I had my own custom amp built for me. Love what fortin is doing aswell!! Need that clean channel though. GAS building.........

I've had a KS modded Marshall and now a Marsha and I agree with everything that's been posted about Friedman amps. I'm amazed at how versatile they are for just single channel amps.
For me, the BE, C45 and sat switch are the must haves...everything else is gravy.

I got lucky and picked up my Marsha used for a steal. I will say it is a better sounding amp than my KS modded Marshall...the Marsha has more clarity, less noise. Both amps had the same basic tone, but the Marsha is just more (if that makes sense). But it's probably unfair to compare since my KS mod was a 32 year old amp...

Marsha + Scumback H75/M75 speakers = awesomeness.

That was my experience as well, the Friedman modded amp i played sounded nothing at all like any Cameron I've played. Just very different. The Friedman did have a really nice fat bottom end to it and it was very warm sounding. The Cameron's are more aggresive, and the Cali mod even more. But some guys feel Cameron's and Fortin's have a lot in common with Mesa Mark series amps. I think a little, especially the gain on tap.

One of the the things I like about having both Camerons and Friedmans is that they are different enough to warrant keeping both amps. :)

I'd love to hear them blended. :)

 I agree with you all the way. I also have both for the same reason.
