Hey folks I am using an early 90's Egnater ie4 four channel tube preamp and I am just not diggin' the clean sound as much as I would like. It lacks the punch and bell like chime of my silverfaced Twin and Rivera Concerts. It seems a bit compressed. I realize I am not going to get that exact sound from my rig, but I keep hoping to get closer. Can anyone help? I have tried many different tubes in the egnater and even had Jeff Bober of (Budda,East amps) mod the clean channel of my silver faced ie4 to the spec of the earliest red version of the ie4.
My rig:
Egnater pre into a VHT Two/Fifty/Two with KT77's into a Bogner with 2 V30's and 2 Classic lead 80's
Guitars are mostly PRS's and have VIntage style humbuckers.
any help would be appreciated.
