i have a chance to get one on a trade deal. are they any good? with their "custom" speakers. are they sheffields? i hate those damn things. any info would be helpful. cab construction, material.
would be using with FJA 5150, low tuned metal.

I recently compared the JSX cab with the ValveKing cab. My band just got a entry level endorsement, and we were trying to decide which cabs to go with. Both my other guitarist and I prefered the ValveKing cab. The JSX cab seemed to fart out on the low end more than the ValveKing.

I wouldn't base a decision on one persons opinion. A 400 watt capability cabinet farting out? Unlikely.

No more unlikley than you knowing what you're talkin' about!

hi gain amps love v-30's

i have a xxx and almost sold it because of the fizzy mess you always hear about,...i tried out every cab speaker combo that was in my area....they included

marshall 1960a/b
peavey xxx
genz benz
krank
marshall mode four
mesa traditional
mesa recto

the recto cab was better than i could of hoped for!...you will fall in love with your sound...they cost an arm and a leg but you will gladly fork over the cake for it once you try it...so drag ur head and guitar into your nearest mesa dealer and try it out.....seriously

the worst pairing of all of these was the marshall 1960's...with g12t-75's...

good luck..and try before ya buy

The VavleKing head Has a nice clean channel, and the high gain channel is cool for what it does. It's does not have enough gain for me. The cabs were better sounding than I expected, and of all their cab. they are the one my band uses. Triple XXX's and Vintage 30 loaded cabs for recording, ValveKing cabs for live.

what is in the JSX for speakers?? i heard it was some custom thing? if they are sheffields, then i definatley dont want them.

as far as mesa, i have played through a recto cab. they are ok but would likely get 2 75's in there to even out the 30s if it were me. and for the money i would rather get a used VHT or bogner cab. the only reason i am considering the jsx is because its a trade deal.

When I picked up my 5150 from Jerry P I played it through his 1960b for like 45 minutes and it sounded really really good. the cab really agreed with the head.

So the overdrive is pretty weak?

No reason to take offense. Anyways, I could say the same thing about about you. Only that claim would be like the one you made, baseless.

The JSX cab is on the darker sounding side, and can hold it's own at all volume and gain levels. The options on it's rear jack plate are pretty cool too.
