Hey guys,

I just found Ola Englunds vid of the Fortin Natas und asked myself if I could make my Herbert sound like this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILqL80HLJjo

The guitar sound is incredible (as in all of his vids, but this stands out as my favourite)

Tipps for that direction (eq, tubes, etc...)?

I can't comment on the Herbert, but my understanding is that his videos are heavily EQed in post production, so it's hard to say if even the amps used in the video really sound like what's in the video.

In the notes of the video it says " No post processing used, these are the raw tracks."

Thats why I posted the link to the "raw guitars only"-vid. Sounds f*ckin brutal

I see no reason why Herbert would not get this sound to you. The micing has a lot to do with the recording sound. Im rather sure that you would be surprised if you would hear the same sound in that room, not the sound that you hear that is picked via the mic(s).

Yes, Herbert can! :D

But there are also other important issues.
-7-Sting Guitar or a heavily detuned Guitar
- the mic position! (like someone said before)
- in my opinion a boost with tubescreamer or a maxon would influence it positivly
- a bunch of mids
- maybe a light mid cut
- and low presence

You will have to play with your EQ! But dont forget that changing the mic position influences the tone more than a little change in the eq ;)

I dont think you will ever get 'that sound' out of a Herbert or any amp. That's Ola. He makes everything sound good because he is really good at what he does. There are so many variables it's exhausting. I dont think the Herbert is as tight as the Natas. I like what I've heard from a Herbert over the tone in that video, but if you want a NATAS sound get a NATAS. Personally, I can't wait to see Ola meet a Herbert. He killed it with the Einstein.

Yes i liked his Einstein-vid very much =)

@Zakk: This is low presence? Interesting... I thought that there is a lot of treble and presence because the sound cuts like a knife...
Maybe I have some wrong understandings of eqs?

No you haven't! There has to be a lot of treble, so turn the treble knob up! But I would not turn my Presence knob over 11-12 for this kind of sound, because it makes it sound very scratchy. Okay maybe you like to play a chainsaw but other ways... :D

Why do you know that his sound cuts thorugh?! That's only the raw guitar sound. Also micing ads a lot of treble sometimes ;) especially for live micing!

Thanks for the reply

Do you think this could be achieved more easy on channel2 or 3 because of the gain, compression etc...?

Hmmm...
I would try channel 2+, but maybe the 3rd one works better for you. In my opinion channel 3 is a bit to compressed for this sound.
So have a try and start rocking  :D

Seriously doubt a Diezel of any kind will sound like a Fortin, and vise versa. They are both very unique and different amps. (and they both  )
