Hey guys, I've spent an embarrassing amount of time dialing in my guitar tone and reamping setup for the album. I'm finally at the point that I'm pretty damn happy with it. So, it's time to throw it to the wolves & see what I've missed. If you have a minute, have a listen on good speakers & weigh in?

Here's the link.

I'm not going to say a thing about the gear so you'll listen with your ears & not your eyes. Also keep in mind this is just a mixdown with dry guitars, NOT mastered.

Thanks!

Sounds good !

?

Guitars sound a tiny bit too predominant in the mix.

@Beyond Black @Racerxrated @VESmedic curious what you think.

im hearing a bit of low mid buildup throughout that i think if cleaned up would help the mix breath a ton, im sure thats more to do with the bass though. guitars sound great, if im being super analytical maybe id add just a touch of top end sheen

I listened through a 5 speaker sound system and the guitars are too loud. The bottom end also sounds like it is over driving the mic.

Thanks. There's no HPF / LPF applied yet, that should clean up any low end congestion.

I'm not against a touch of EQ in post as well, once my engineer gets these raw files and cleans it all up we'll see where it stands.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback! ? We've got a 10 song album written and 7 songs recorded so far. I talked my engineer into letting me do the reamping which has been a total win-win.

PS there is a Chiron involved with the knobs at noon.

For a guy who never thought I could write a song much less an album I'm thrilled with how the whole process is going.

I’ll take a listen when I can on my monitors for sure!

thats awesome, recording is great fun. the chiron is awesome too, i actually just plugged into your recto, every knob at noon on orange and i switched over to spongy and its just perfect through my 1960a.

A Recto (especially a Tremoverb) through a 1960 cab is a great sound that I think is often overlooked.

Sounds great Jeremy, thick and aggressive af with great clarity. Most importantly, it sounds like you’ve created your own Mark sound, and not a MOP tone clone that’s so typically dialed in with these.
Sounds like it’s shaping up to be a killer album man. ?

what speakers was this??
By "this" do you mean..

The tone check clip from my band's song? It's a mesa straight traditional 4x12 with a quad of 2001 V30s. It's mic'd up with an E609 as the primary at unity and a SM7B blended in at -7.5.

Or, do you mean the comment about Rectos sounding great with a 1960 cab? I've had a couple different 1960B cabs with 90s G12T-75s, and my Rectos always kill with them. ESPECIALLY the Rev C that LOVED Greenbacks & T75s. They are however not involved in the album. :)

That's what I was hoping for! Personally I don't think the MOP tone is all that great, a 4 tube power section in a 1 guitar band can only do so much... *ducks*

Nothing that can't be fixed mastering wise, HPF/LPF, etc, everything negative I could say would be fixed with mastering type stuff

I think it sounds great, personally

I think you could get a way with a bit MORE low mids/mids on it, actually, too - if you lowered the volume a bit

Can't do good speakers now but through my laptop it sounded awesome. GLWTA

Had a Distrurbed (band) thing going on that I like. Hope that lands as a compliment. Coincidental too as I just posted a Disturbed song in RacerU4her demo thread
