Can I run the line out from my load box > fx return of a preamp to use the cab emulation and headphone out?

I'd be using a Mesa Powerhouse attenuator and load box into the FX return of my Carvin X1 Preamp.

That would be cool. What do you think?

I guess I am retarded but wheres the power coming from?
I'd be running into one of my amps > Mesa as a load box > fx return of the preamp. The preamp has a cab emulated headphone/direct out. It also has a 1 watt output section for sending to a speaker cab so I could reamp the signal that way, but that's a convoluted way to get the same effect of just using the attenator function.

You can use a load box to load down amp A, then use amp A’s line out to whatever gear will accept a line level signal, sure.

Or you could use the load box’s output to give you a line level signal from there as well.

Either should work in theory. The only thing to really check from there is to make sure you don’t double up on cabs and/or IR processing.
