Can I use Mogami 2319 for my snake to my fx loop?

Im buying all my stuff tomorrow to rewire my pedalboard. Ive decided Im using mogami 2319 and switchcraft 226 right angle ends

I am running my delay, reverb and noise suppressor in the loop.

Can I use the same Mogami 2213 cable that Im using for my board and run two 20' cables to my send and return? or should I step that up to a heavier cable?

Why are you using the more expensive Switchcraft plugs when I told you to use the cheaper and easier to solder GLS ones?

You should be using 2319 for short runs/tight spaces and 2524 for long runs.

Well, to be honest, I have this stupid Boss Ns2 and those pancakes wont fit in it. Space on my board isnt a problem so I want everything to match...Im wierd like that. As far as the 226 ends, redco has the 226 equivelent in their brand so I'll probably get those for half the cost. The guy assured me they were the exact same and all I would be doing is paying for the switchcraft name with the 226's.

So I guess I will be buying 60' of the 2524 (send/return/amp) and 10' of the 2319 (board)

Thanks for your help! ;)

The Redco plugs aren't bad, so there shouldn't be an issue with them.

I'll be doing this in about 3 weeks or so too

where are you buying the mogami cable?

Im getting mine at redco as well. The 2319 is only like $.43 ft and their ends are $2.75 for the 226 clones

FWIW, the Amphenol right angle connectors from Redco are AWESOME. very easy to work with, and they sound great.

I recommend Evidence Reveal for your snake runs - especially if they are 15' in length or longer.

Do the 2319 and 2524 sound the same? I was thinking about using the 2319 for a 4 cable snake from my board to amp. I thought of using the smaller cable so the loom/snake would be smaller. I can just get a bulk reel and do pedalboard and runs to the amp. Simple and cheaper. I don't think I would make the guitar to board cable out of 2319 but what are the drawbacks of using 2319 everywhere else?

The capacitance is slightly higher on the 2319, but it sounds fine to me anywhere.

I've made guitar-->board cables out of Canare GS-4 which is even thinner than Mogami 2319. It sounded great.

You have a pedal board   ....what's next....a rack system?

Yes. After all these years of guitar - cord - amp I have discovered these tiny little boxes that make different sounds. I have also heard a rumor about amps that don't use tubes but I have not confirmed that yet.

So are you saying that I can use 2319 with NO issues whatsoever even though the capacitance is higher. Im only running 20'. I need a send, a return, and a line to my amp input. Doing this would save me some cash...but I dont want any issues or tone loss

The issue isn't necessarily a tonal one but a durability one. The thicker Mogami cables will take more abuse.

Technology is amazing isn't it?

Not that they would be moved around much during performance, but is there any higher handling noise with the 2319? I would loom the 3-4 cables that run to the amp up so there would be additional protection against getting stepped on, rolled over, etc.

The 2319 is perfect for board wiring, but I would't trust it under the foot of a 300 pound half-drunk soundguy.

I think a thicker cable is a smarter choice for your send/return snake. I've had a snake made out of Canare GS stuff, for about 2-3 years, and never had a problem.

Tone: as long as you have a decent quality buffer on your board, first in line, the tonal effect of the cable capacitance is negligible, since it's seeing a low-imp signal. I've wired boards with the thick canare stuff, and the thin Mogami stuff, and with a good buffer up front, can't hear a damn difference.

Spend your $$$ on the guitar--->board cable.

It depends if you are going to have a snake or just the cable. I actually use Mogami 2528 for loop connections but I am running it thru a snake. The 2528 is also available from RedCo, I actually use it for all wiring on the board, in my rack and in my snake.

Here's a close-up, the red and yellow are the 2 cores of the 2528, the one with no color marker is 2524.

It's just braided sleeving and heatshrink, you can probably buy that at a computer retailer too.
