Its more of the bright ping sound steel adds to the sound that's displeasing to my ears depending on guitar. Same with steel frets. I've only tried steel bridge post but I'm sure its even more with steel bridge.

Sounds like a PUP problem to me.

Yeah, j/k. There is no panacea here. But to my ears each Gibson I've had was dark and dull with original hardware thru my setup. So I buy fancy cork sniffer hardware and turn my nose up at simpletons like you.

I need a pickup that can do everything from Alice in Chains to Metallica but clean up a bit if I want to jam on some other stuff..
Duncan "whole lotta humbucker" set will be very versatile, will do the heavy stuff with a high gain amp and will clean up great.

Yeah, I just pulled my ad for these as I popped them in my LP and they sound really great! They are staying for now.

the good deal about you getting a good deal on the 2nd Degree's, is that you can flip them easily if they are not doing it for you. ;) :D

Son of a.....:) I guess I need to find a dealer now. :)

That is great though to find a pickup that really works for you. I was pretty happy with the Suhr Aldrich back when I was using it but these Motor City Pickups seem to even be more exciting to folks.

Motor City all the way. 2nd degree is great afwayu is my favorite lately. Afwayu is hotter and more fluid high up high on neck for me.

Yeah, I have a love/hate with steel frets. I've had them in a few guitars and just hard for me to get used to. Has that "clang" sound. :)

Detroiter. That is a sick pup. I uave a set in my studio lite and it makes my custom with a jb in it sound a little thin. Just a ripping midrange on those with a great punch for heavier stuff as well. Havent tried the black belts tho and would love to.

:D If you still want the Duncan's, I can just flip the "other" set in there!!    Either of them work fine for me.

Or maybe not......just went up and plugged in and these Duncan's sound really good! :D

OX4 for a Les Paul! They can handle everything and handle it extremely well with much more harmonics, overtones, and clarity than many listed here. Never tried MC but aren't they similar to BK which I have tried many.

Glad your still loving the les Paul romanianreaper

What's up bro?!! Dude, love this guitar. I actually like this one better than the 2008 guitar I shopped for and picked out after looking at a bunch of others. This guitar just feels comfortable and fits me. Great guitar!

I normally use Seymour Duncans in all my guitars for rock/hard rock... but I'm liking this burstbucker I and II set that is stock in my reissues... I think the aldridge is based on them but with added output? not bad at all really

In a pinch? Grab a Burstbucker 2 and 3, replace with roughcast A5 or UOA5 (unoriented alnico 5) and you'll have an inexpensive set up pickups that are 95% of any Lollar, Bare Knuckle, etc boutique humbucker out there.

Along with an overal 3D tone, I love the inherit low mid hump in the Burstbucker and the relatively relaxed yet articulate highs - good for almost any style

I have become very impressed with the Rebel Yells.

I just got an awesome Les Paul Standard from tpruitt here on the forum (thanks bro!). Great guitar and plays outstanding. It currently has two Dimarzio Super Distortions in it and they are great pickups but wondering if there is something else that would fit my tones, etc better.

On my previous Les Paul Standard, I had a Suhr Aldrich in the bridge and Burstbucker in the neck and thought it was a great combo. I really loved the Suhr. As far as Les Pauls and SGs, in the past I've had a JB, Duncan Distortion, Iommi, stock Gibsons, and the Aldrich. All have been great pickups and have their advantages.

I play mostly hard rock and metal and have my custom "Van Halen" guitar with a Frankenstein pickup for when I want to do that type stuff. I need a pickup that can do everything from Alice in Chains to Metallica but clean up a bit if I want to jam on some other stuff. Like I said, I lean toward the Aldrich because I used it in the past and loved it. Just want to get some opinions.

Tom Holmes 450/455 set

I'm really liking this guitar as well.
I'm interested in hearing those rebel yells.

I settled on DiMarzio 36th Anniversaries in my Traditional +, Duncan Antiquities in my R7 Goldtop and a Duncan Custom in the bridge of my 3 PU BB7 and stock BB's in middle and neck
