yes! lol i sold it for the mark iv, but even besides that it wasnt for me. it was good but i couldnt justify keeping it, the gain channel was cool with certain guitars(RG 570) but not so cool with others(prs). i didnt like the clean channel at all, was kinda lifeless, althought it had lots of headroom and stayed clean at very loud volumes.

hmm i gotcha

i'm just trying to find something new and i've been seriously looking at something with el-34s in it. i was trying to trade my rectoverb for a mesa rack setup but i can't seem to find everything all at once and i kind of NEED an amp right now.

any words of wisdom?

Very THICK and Smooth sounding gain. If you keep the presence below 6.5 ish its dark. After 6.5 it really brightens up, but also starts to thin out. Theres are very small sweet spot there. Clean is clean. It does a voilen type controlled feedback/sustain thing which is cool.

would it be suitable for prog-ish metal with lots of single note lines followed with big chords?
ie- bitey with clarity and still aggressive

If you like the Bogner Shiva, you'll like the Legacy and save yourself $1,100 in the process too.

I think the Legacy is better suited for lead than rhythm.

the distortion is very thick and creamy and somewhat dark.

it has a unique voicing... maybe a bit boxy

leads can be very liquid

wouldn't be my first or only choice but is a cool amp.

They sound nothing alike. not whatsoever.

I've had my Legacy for about three months now. I think it's a great amp. Reminds me a lot of my Jubilee, but with a hell of a lot more gain. The amp can be dark is you set it that wat, but you can get some really great lean and crunch tones from it if you tweek a bit. right now I have it set up for a nice biting dirty tone that still has some butter on it when I solo. ;)

The clean channel can be a bit tricky to dial in, and will respond very differently to different guitars. I've managed to get a clean tone that I like, but since I may use that channel 5% of the time, I really haven't tried to tweek it that much.

The Legacy is a nice rock amp. It will get heavy with an EQ in the loop, but that's not what it excels at. I play hard rock, so for my application the amp works great. I think it's a great bargin for a killer sounding amp.

The Shiva's clean breaks up without a boost and the Legacy's doesn't. Both have great sounding clean channels. The Shiva needs a boost pedal to get a liquidy sustain sound and the Legacy doesn't (it has enough gain on tap). The fundamental tones to my ears between the two amps were pretty similar. Why not enlist Danyeo, Danhops, and AmpliFIRE's opinions on this one as they were there listening to the 2 amps via the same cab the same as me. They are more similar than they are different.

to me the shiva excels at low gain and a great clean tone, the legacy doesnt really get a nice low gain to my ears and its clean channel isnt as lively as the shiva, it just feels dead, almost like the clean channel of a solid state crate amp..

YMMV but I have owned both and to me they sound nothing alike. I am not bagging on the Legacy, I think it sounds pretty damn good especially for the money. I played one again just the other day at a friends shop and was pretty impressed by it all things considered.
