These shows are just propaganda that no one watches and the money is running out. The endless boomer pharmaceutical ads they run on have gigamoney behind them but pharma has figured they simply aren't worth it.
You can't tell me that a show that costs 100 million a year to produce, which only gets 2 million viewers a day (allegedly, the realistic engagement is probably WAY less), with only 200k in the optimal demographic is feasible in anyway other than just some propaganda running on fuzzy money.
There are people on streaming platforms like twitch who get 100k viewers in the optimal demographic everyday, who run their show out of their bedroom alone or with a tiny handful of employees. Joe Rogan gets about 4-5 million views per episode at about 3-4 shows per week, but 90% of them are in the optimal demographic.
No one watches TV.
