I have had a few emails from RT guys about the CCV FX loop. They are Metro Zero-Loss boards. If you have to crank the level return too high, or are noticing some signal degradation, you can adjust the trim pot on the loop board. Counter-clockwise is hotter, so, give the trim pot a twist to the left and this should help you out. Careful though, you got B+ voltage to the board.

That explains it. I haven't been getting along with the loop at all. I'm gonna open it up this weekend and do that.

I thought the pot controlled the Send gain and should be set for unity. No?

It doesn't know what unity is until you tell it. But, yeah, set it for unity with the loop engaged. One of my boards was upside down with the trim pot toward the top of the chassis and the pot all the way clockwise..... :gethim: Had to take it off the chassis to adjust it.

I thought someone was testing all these amps! It's all good now and I don't even use the loop! They could leave them off altogether and it wouldn't bother me.

The early amps Mark was testing solo and some slipped through with out having the trim pot turned up. The pot in there on this run of amps should be all the way up and that is counter clockwise. All the amps we just shipped Mark tested and checked and than I tested again. Little bit of growing pains but it will not happen again as we have redundancy on the testing.

Thanks David......

I need to check the trim level on mine.
I am getting a noticeable hum when running the intellifex & replifex in the loop...wonder if it is related to the wall wart power supplies?
May have to moe to something different for fx if i cant figure this out.

- It could be a few things, but with all that gear, you need to plug all the outboard FX into the same power source as the amp....i.e. a Furman or equivalent.

- Are you trying them individually, or going through a line mixer or router of some sort? This could be a source of hum with the multiple rack components.

- Cabling?

- Just to make sure it is nothing in the amp, jump the FX loop send and return with a cable and see if the hum is there at various return level adjustments.

Like Steve said, jump your loop with a short cable, from send to return. Put your "FX Master" at the 3 o'clock position, and leave it there while you do this. If you can flip back and forth to the loop with the bypass switch, and you have unity gain, then your trimpot is correctly adjusted. If not, then you need to turn it all the way counter-clockwise (from the view of looking at the dial directly).

Hopefully it is just not adjusted correctly and you will be able to use your same effects, because my loop used to be noisy as hell too. It is dead quiet now.

I am MUCH happier with the loop since adjusting mine, because it was dialed almost completely off.

This trim pot should be added to the Owner's Manual, no?
In my amps case it would be nice if it was added to my effects board. Pulled the board up and mine doesn't have a trim pot just a resistor where the pot should be.

Didn't you request the trim pot mod?

  Feck you Steve.  It works fine. Adds no hum. With nothing in the loop and the loop engaged it matches the amps volume with the loop off at about 2:00 o' clock on the knob. Does that seem correct to you? Maybe mine was broken so a resistor was installed insted. I'm looking under the board with a flashlight. I'm like damn I don't see a trim pot. Pulled it out and no pot for me.

If you set the return level to 2 or 3 o'clock and click the loop in it should be unity. if so you don't need to touch the trim pot. Not it does not need to be in the manual because you should not have to touch it.

Thanks for the suggestions on the intellifex/replifex hum issue. I am running them individually with high quality cables into a furman power conditioner.
A mixer like the mini mix could be the answer. Also have tried the cable bridging send and return...get a bit of hum then. It is more noticeable with the either of the units in the loop.
Will adjust the trim to see if it makes any difference.
May need other fx units....just dont want to spend any more right now

Keep the cables away from the power transformer of the amp or any sort of transformers. Put the cables near this stuff and it will hum.

How are you guys discharging the caps on your CCV to work on it - dumping all the cans to ground or through V1? I missed one the other day and got bit.

Oh shit. I just pull the power cord while playing. Seems to work. I checked with a meter and found minmal charge left. Nothing I can't touch.
