backround story..... i have an Ampeg 2x12 guitar cab, celestion equipped with G12M-70 8 ohm speakers. front loaded cab, so it sounds great. just got my hands on a Splawn 2x12 with eminence governor/man-o-war. Splawn cab sounds even better than the Ampeg.

question....anybody know anything about those celestion G12M-70? other than the obvious 70 watts   curious if anyone knows anything about it, what it's supposed to be similar to, or whatnot. thinking of selling or swapping those speakers with some small blocks or governor/man-o-war if it's worth my time/money.

any thoughts?

They aren't very desirable speakers. Wouldn't be worth more than $30-$40 each.

Worst sounding speaker I've ever played. Period.

hmmm. yeah, i didn't think they were worth very much haha

they did pretty well in my front loaded cab. perhaps would have been a trainwreck in anything else. not the worst i ever played, i had an old Ibanez cab one time with "Ibanez Power Jam" speakers in it. oh man was that sucker brittle...it hurt!

The G12M70 (also referred to as the Modern Lead 70) used to come in Marshall JCM800 combos. They are by far my least favorite celestion, they just sound thin and cardboardy to me. They do mix well with V30's, but still leave alot to be desired. I just repaired a JCM800 combo and so got to try the G12M70 again this time in an opened back combo. Still much preferred the JCM800 through my Marshall 212 cab with WGS ET-65 speakers.
