I couldn't care less if it's a rip-off. The price is right. If it sounds good I'm all for it, especially since I doubt I'll get my hands on a real Cameron amp. Ever.

I am very interested in hearing this. I hope it is a copy. I know some people that have had some difficulties in acquiring the "original", and would feel more comfortable with a Ceriatone because of this. Can't wait for clips to see how it compares. The 100W especially.

My thoughts exactly. I mean all these amp guys have stood on the shoulders of giants (Jose). Get real, no one hot rodding Marshalls today invented it. They are all second and third generation.

I understand amp flipping - I wanted to know why he thinks the grass will be greener (which he PM'd me). I was asking because I'm interested in the Ceriatone and want more info on what he knows about it - what motivated him to off the quickrod in favor of this. I know what a QR does and sounds like. Hell I thought about buying his QR. I presumed he had e-mail conversations with the Ceriatone builder since he ordered one.....thus knows more than me about what it is supposed to sound like - since there aren't any clips.

Feel is the first thing that comes to mind, Splawns have a feel that some love and some hate. There is no secret to the basic Jose mod so I am sure it sounds pretty good out of the box. Depends on the iron being used.
Eh, if he gets one quick he will be able to flip it quickly if he does not like it.

as long as americans dont care about slave labor and buy Bugeras, we have no right to say anything about what nik is doing. I like the guy. I think his stuff is way above any China crap. Brownote rips off dumble so does fuchs and bludotone. Why couldnt they make a cab that looks different ? ? ? ? ? its all been done. were all copying someone. Mine are a mixture of all the best circuits slightly tweaked to my liking. So nik made an amp that looks like a marshall, says it has jose mods in it and uses marks 3 position bright cap switching. The only way the right thing prevails is if no one buys it. That aint going to happen. Prices are too good. Weve gone full circle here. as long as greed exists, free trade and fair competition will always be compromised. 200 years is about the limit isnt it? Doesnt everything crash and burn or change drastically every two hundre years. I used to work for a trademark and patent attorney. we had the NFL contracts. Chasing bootleg Tshirts from other countries. It was a waste of time and money. If America wants to buy a paper thin shirt that says Raiders on it so be it.

While I think it's a ripoff, that's not necessarily a bad thing. If it does in fact sound like a CCV, then more players will have access to a great design that otherwise wouldn't be able to play/hear one due to cost or whatever other factors.
If you think about it, noone gets mad at Line6 or Fractal for ripping off basically EVERY amp manufacturer. And yes, I realize that most of the modeling stuff is aimed at a different demographic, but the high end stuff like the Axe-fx reaches out to the same market as high end boutique amps. I don't think this will hurt Mark's business or sales, honestly. There's some mystique about the "real deal" and I'm sure tons of people would love to get their hands on a real Cameron amp, myself included. And with Jerry's help, it sounds like that is happening now.
