The chnage in slipe won't be drastic. What are you trying to change about the tone. Probably better places to tweak.

Really? I think going from 47K to 33K is pretty drastic. It's like turning the mids from noon to 3:00.

Agreed.

I'm really not trying to accomplish anything specific. I'm mainly just trying to learn what the different changes do.

That's a good way of doing it. You can use a pot in place of many resistors in the amp to tune the circuit. NFB, tone stack, voltage dividers, B+ droppers, plate loads, etc. Just pay attention to voltage and don't shock yourself lol.

Yeah, the shock thing is my biggest concern ?

Actually, the biggest factor is knowing what components to get. It's not like I can run down the street to the local electronics store anymore. Everything is online. So, where do I even start? And they rape you to have a few tiny components shipped.

You can get a bulk pack of every common resistor value if you're fine with the generic carbon films or metal films.

But, is it just resistors that I'd want to have? What about zeners, caps, etc?

That's my point, you can accomplish a similar effect by adjusting the mid knob. That's why it's there after all. But overall it's not really changing.the "voicing" or personality of the amps. Not to say it's.not worth tweaking, but certainly not the the first few things Id change if wanted to change the personality of an amp

It changes the entire center freq. of the tone stack. So everything—bass, mids, treble—shifts with it. Doesn't seem like OP is trying to change the personality of the amp, he said he's just trying to learn what each part of the circuit does by actually playing with the values (instead of looking at a graph).
