Charvel Carbonized San Dimas, more kiln dried necks.

I am almost in physical pain looking at the poor string alignment. I want to reach out into the picture and loosen the neck bolts and move the neck in.
But then I figure why? Anyone who buys that, with its' knotholes and gold hardware, probably isn't going to play above the 5th fret or even move the pickup selector for that matter.
I predict the next line will be MIM Roadworn pointy Charvels....
On a positive note, I dig the clay dots.

It looks amazing but that knot hole kills it for me, for $2400 you should be getting a guitar that is flawless

Doesn't stop people from buying gibsons

LMAO! :D

I don't get the Nitro series either. All the original Charvels we loved and grew up on were poly...

Steve

Seriously? Dude, give me a thinner, nitro finish and a livlier-sounding guitar ANY day over a dead-sounding, poly-choked axe. I didn't use to give a shit until I got my nitro-finished Explorer and EJ Strat, which I had to finally admit to myself absolutely DESTROY my poly-finish guitars tonally, including my USA Soloist & other USA Strat. It kinda pissed me off really, because I love the way my Jackson plays so much, but I just can't get away from the fact that it just sounds dead to me compared to the Gibby & especially the EJ.

To each his own, man, but the nitro Charvel is probably #1 on my GAS list these days & thinner nitro finishes are where it's at in my book.

As someone who is a big fan of nitro, you seem to be a bit misguided. You have four completely different guitars and you favor the 2 nitro ones over the 2 poly ones?

Nitro is just the icing on the cake of a great guitar. It is not a major factor on whether a guitar is good or not.

Hmmm....

Sorry, tongue-in-cheek humor doesn't always translate well on a chat forum.

Though some of the Charvel stuff has made me turn my head and look twice, ultimately I find that Charvel is Fender-esque in that they make a thousand different models of Super Strat, just not the one that you really want.
Therefor in my case, the answer is to find one cheap used, and throw some money at it.
Coincidentally, I am doing just that with a different Fender product. One that I really like some of the features of, but other things have to go.

The longer I play and perform, the more I find my tastes gravitate to "standard", so I really don't feel that I'm "out there" in bizarre territory with my preferences.
I guess I'm a Partsocaster kinda guy.

You have a tele shape with a Floyd Rose, a humbucker in the bridge and a p-90 in the neck as your avatar. If that is a favorite of yours I would hardly call you a "standard" sort of guy. I'm not saying that guitar isn't cool, just saying it's more unique than standard IMO.

LOL!!!
I confess!! My first partsocaster, so I did go overboard..

I dig a Tele shape aesthetically, but that's not a deal breaker, it's got the arm relief and gut-cut like a Strat.
The neck and pocket is all Strat.
OK with Strat bodies, but even the San Dimas series had a Strat-necked Tele so....
The rout is two humbuckers, the single coil is on a HB frame.
I'm OK with either a single or hb in the neck, pickups can be changed.
The pickguard is really a finger rest, I like to plant my pinky sometimes and non-recessed Floyds sit a little too high for me to do that comfortably.
So it's really not too far off the beaten path.
The San Dimas ones are "close", but not quite, which is my point. It takes a little personalizing, you just gotta consider how much that's gonna cost and add it to the total.

Nothing translates on chat forums...

By "Hmmmmm...", I meant "Intriguing". I wouldn't mind seeing something like that.

All the guys on the Charvel forum are going nuts for these and personally I don't understand it.
You haven't figured out yet that a good portion of "all those guys" is all one guy?

Who knows? Certainly a possibility. No one expected the Roadworn 72 Deluxe and Custom Tele models that Fender did one run of. They took dealer orders only at NAMM and they were a huge seller. I know for a fact that the Fender execs were a little surprised in a good way at how fast they moved off the dealers floors.
So maybe Charvel does a run of re-issue relic early Charvels, certainly the relic lines sell real well for Fender.

...and if they were MIM, can I say affordable? :)

Love it or hate it, I just bought it. I love the natural dark wood and the knot. Its natural wood so the knot enhances that IMO. I'm not crazy about the gold hardware but it would look silly with silver or black so I'm going to roll with it. I love natural wood guitars, but when I saw this one I had to make the purchase. I have had several Charvel’s over my 30+ years playing and this is more my style as an old rocker with 3 kids. I sold all 7 of my guitars and all of my gear after the financial markets hit the wall in 2008 and 2009. I have been without a guitar for almost 2 years, so I’m pumped to finally have this one in the house.

Now if I could just get my SLO 100 back I would be happy as a claim.

Not sure yet, it's being shipped from NY. Once I get a chance to play it I will post an update.

these look like nice guitars, but being a confirmed addict for real charvels, all i can say is for the money I personally would rather spend it on the old ones.... today can never be yesterday....
