Saw this used MIJ at my GC and it had a great vibe but was the ugliest Primer gray like color. Thought it was a vintage white from the pic. I literally couldn’t find it in the store because it was so drab in person..lol. Plus someone had strung it with heavy strings with a wound G but it was tuned up to pitch. ?‍♂️
Even with these shortcomings it had an intangible mojo I really dug on the feel of the neck and was liking the simplicity of the Hum and SC config. They don’t offer it anymore that I can see on the Charvel site. GC called it a Pro Mod San Dimas but I don’t know Charvel enough to know what it is. I wouldn’t mind finding another one that isn’t such a shit color…lol

In person it was more green/grey than the straight grey in that article. Like a version of pea soup. Can’t say I like the grey in the article pic any better. Being that it was a limited run I’m not going to worry about it. I’m not paying a few hundred more for paint I like..lol
Also like they said in the review, masking off the Charvel logo would be quite a feat. Unless a new logo of the right color could be had to replace it.

You can find Charvel logo decals on eBay all day long. And I wish they would bring the HS config into a regular production model. At the moment, the only way to get that config is in two sig models. Granted, if you get a SoCal, you can easily change the pick guard.

If it's not on the used site it's been bought. Those MiJ are really close to the feel of the USAs from 08/09; the MiJs were from 10-12 until the Tsunami took out the plant. Then MiM after that. Under 1K was a really good price for that one. Personally I favor the USAs more since some are equal to Custom shop Charvels IMO, the MiJ are super consistent and have better fretwork as they were rounded off vs some USAs being a bit sharp.

I have one and it's typical primer gray. I don't think it has any green in it. Maybe it was the lighting or sweat coloring it? :dunno: It does look lighter or darker depending on the lighting.

I’ve never owned a Floyd, Super Strat type guitar before and didn’t feel all that confident how it would set up with regular strings for A440 vs. the telephone cables it had on it. It would have been a frivolous buy anyway and at around 1K after tax I couldn’t justify it right now. For justifying a purchase in the future I sure wish I could get my hands on a Chubtone neck and check it out. Liking the idea of the color, fretboard, electronics I want, made in the U.S. for a decent amount less than 2K is pretty appealing.

If you don't love it then definitely don't get it. The strings shouldn't be a probably since they originally shipped with 9's in standard tuning.
