Are you charging extra for these mods? Does that black one have some flame going on in the neck? They look great btw!

The black one does have some flame on the neck which was just a fluke I guess because none of the others do.

I thought the black one was a custom shop because of that flame in the neck when I was there Monday. Didn't realize it was a "reto" Japan pro mod. damn... looked great in person.

See you tomorrow with my Custom Shop order form!!

Steve

Love both black ones, especially the flame neck.
Brass knob, flame neck, and double creme
would be best IMHO.

They look fantastic. Double cremes would make them completely retro.

I love double creams too but don't care for DiMarzio's. It seems that most of my customers are Duncan guys over DiMarzio guys, especially on the west coast.

I am Midwest but I prefer the SD's over the DiMarzio's also. I pulled the Tone Zone out of my SoCal quickly and replaced it with a JB.

I did the same thing.

Order them (Duncans) w/ the covers on, but specify double cream-- then remove the covers. :D

Nah Zach. That's an old trick that I did for years. Duncan will absolutely not do that anymore. I have tried with my normal sales guy and his boss. Apparently DiMarzio has gone ballistic that Yngwie left and went to Duncan and is watching Duncan like a hawk.

And I can still easily make any Duncan pickup into a double cream but I have to do it myself.

Oh wow... Thanks for the update. Hey BTW, you still got any Mojave Peacemakers in stock?

No, I stopped selling Mojave's probably 5 years ago. Love the amps but it is extremely difficult to compete with a manufacturer who also sells direct unless they respect your territory. I had a guy who lived 5 minutes from my store come in and try out the Scorpion for about an hour at very loud volume. Then he left and a couple of days later I read a thread how he had gone out to Mojave in Apple Valley and picked up a new Scorpion for a "killer deal" when I wasn't allowed to discount them $1 or I would lose my dealership.

I still like Vic as a person and think he has a great ear for tone, but there's a way things normally work in this industry and that wasn't it.

It also didn't help that all the guys on the Duncan board kept blabbing about it. Evan (from Duncan) said no more... :(

Put a vintage tint on the neck and a flame on the red one and with chrome covers on the pickups, that's my dream super strat.

I love the black, still can not get into the blue finish, though. :(

Dunno how you could "vintage" up the SoCal... Maybe a BWB/WBW pickguard with a strat knob? Make them look more like a strat that someone modded with a Charvel neck/floyd?

I just finished up this one tonight....

I started with the normal Tangerine/Rosewood board model, and ended up with this.

Man really dig what you've done with these! Very nice!!! Got to find one of those money trees now...

I think Vai's 80's outfits might have made Liberace look macho.
