Both of my Warmoths are hits. Sure it wasn't your set-up or bad selection of components?

Not to say they couldn't have had a bad piece of wood, but that goes for any builder.

I'm sure. The wood sucked. It sounded dull as hell.

How much would I be looking at for a custom Warmoth with SoCal style features? no flamed top or inlays, floyd rose.

So Cal all the way!

I'm about a week away from finally dropping the hammer on one of these:

That one I put together was around $1000+ and it basically has the same specs as a Charvel. I'd assume it would be the same for you, maybe even more because of UK shipping.

You can price it out in their guitar builder site.

I think BOZZY here at the boards has a Jim Root strat. Might want to ask him what he thinks of it

This is one of those things that's a personal decision IMO...no amount of feedback from anybody else will determine which one is right for you (given similar quality). Play them and see if you bond with one or the other.

Yup, it is up to the player due to the bridges.

It's not really worth it then for me. I trust Charvel's quality, and even if I were to get a custom guitar, If I'm looking at £1000+ let's say, I'd probably be almost as happy with a £700 charvel. I'm even tempted to buy another LTD.

Well, I really meant bridges aside. Do fender make any metal-friendly strats with floyds that I could also tone back for blues/rock?

I need a guitar that can handle low tunings, tight percussive riffs and has alot of balls to it, but I can dial back to get Andy Timmons style tones. :) I know it's alot to do with the amp, but my EMG and floyd loaded LTD is just a bit too stubbern.

i personally would take the jim root.

What are you reasons?

I like the idea of the Jim Root strat, I don't know why, seems to be alot of Charvel fans here.

Im not into floyds or EMGs so voted other fender. For me its a used American Std and rip out the pups and rewire it. Replace the plastic nut with a tusq or graphite. Thats the good stuff right there
