Charvel USA neck or fake?

Picked up what was advertised as a Charvel USA for 399...the body has a DiMarzio loaded pick guard(Fred neck, Tone Zone bridge) and its routed for the Floyd, a cheapo Special. So pretty sure the body isn't a Charvel. The neck is the right shape, with Charvel USA on it...no skunk stripe but it's got a rosewood board. Plays well, sounds great...here's the question. When I took the pick guard off to change strings/identify the pickups I could see the truss rod adjustment, half of it at least under the end of the fretboard. My question is, since this neck has to come off to adjust the truss rod does that confirm that I at least have a Charvel USA neck? Do any aftermarket neck manufacturers make you take the neck off to adjust the truss rod? I'll post pics tomorrow, I work nights...thanks in advance! Oh the neck plate is from a Jap Charvel...
 
Never mind...I just saw that Warmoth has the same type of neck, where you have to remove it to adjust. Its probably a fake neck also. Hmmm.....400 for a parts mutt...I got another 25 days to think it over....

NO skunk stripe= Not a charvel ;)
There are many aftermarket necks where the adjustment is at the heel like a charvel
That neck could be anything?
 
Not sure about the USA models but my Charvel does not have the skunk stripe, the SD1-HS. I see the super stock Charvel doesn't have it either. Both have the rosewood fretboard too.

Must be a rosewood FB thing then cause all six of my maple neck charvels have the SS
 
The rosewood boards on the Charvel necks don't have the stripe according to Chubtone(Curt) who is a dealer and like Steve(sah) and others have a ton of experience with Charvel. I wonder if I take the neck off and look underneath will there be an identifier? Like I said before, the body is for sure fake, prob the neck too. It does play like a dream though... Got a few weeks to decide on what to do...pics in a minute..
 
OK I took the neck off....it says....wait for it....JACKSON Guitars??????? Its a stamp, and another stamp dates it to either April 1997 or 1987...the third number is messed up. Any ideas?????? This stamp is on the neck not the body. No identifier on the body.
 
Sounds like it should be legit. Can't imaging someone going that far to fake a Charvel neck
 
Yeah I'm googling Jackson strathead and coming up with custom orders out of the USA shop only, at least going by the date of either 97 or 87. Maybe Charvel at some point had their USA necks made at the Jackson shop? Mystery continues.....I know recently the Adrian Smith model has been around, but not going back to 97 or 87......its a thicker neck than any Jackson or Charvel I've had.

everything about is wrong. the countour where the headstock joins the rest of the neck on the back is wrong

back before the pro mods were made you would not believe just how far guys were going faking these charvels ;)
 
Like I said before, this was made by Jackson and has a date stamp of either 97 or 87. The question is did Charvel have Jackson make strathead necks for them? If not, then someone went through a lot of trouble to get rid of a Jackson logo and put a Charvel logo instead. From what I've read a Jackson strathead from 97 or before are very rare..like custom shop orders. Maybe you could just custom order a strathead neck from Jackson with no logo..????
 
Looks like you could order replacement necks from Jacksons US shop back in the late 80s....so that's probably what this is. So its probably a US neck, but Jackson not Charvel.....plays nice so that's all that matters!
 
I'm guessing it is one of the USA made Jackson "woodburn" strat head necks where the Jackson logo was burned into the neck at the heel. If so, those are great necks and probably worth about what he paid for the whole guitar.

I'm waiting for picks of that though.
 
I'll have to get to that a bit later, maybe tomorrow. Damn..should have taken a pic when I had it off!
 
Yep there ya go, neck alone is worth what you paid for the whole guitar
