I played a Mid 2000's Charvel USA pointy head this weekend. Ho-ly shit. loved it.

It's priced right around where the used socals are and in line with newer japanese stratheads.

VERY nice guitar. If only it had a strathead. Sigh. but i think i can deal with it and may pull the trigger!

i can only imagine how nice a charvel custom shop is

I just picked this up recently. I believe it's an '05. I drooled over these when they first came out but was never in a position to snag one till recently. The neck is awesome! A little thinner than my US Pro mod Strat head. I'm contemplating a skull and blood graphic like Warren D's in the Round and Round video. GET IT!! Pointies need love too.

I'm pretty sure those pointies from 2005-2006 were Custom Shop guitars. I'm not sure who else would have built them. And the ones I have played have looked and felt every bit like Custom Shop guitars. They are a great bargain because the majority of Charvel guys want the strat heads and the pointy necks are under appreciated. They are a little bit thinner neck wise from front to back. Still though, just as good as the strat heads and priced like a Pro Mod, I'd say snag it.

I had one from 2005, it was killer. I really regret selling that guitar

That is correct...all FMIC Charvels prior to the Pro-Mods were built in the custom shop. One of the best values going for those who can get past the headstock (I dig it).

It's funny how things change. I remember when Charvel first went to the Jackson style pointy headstock nearly everybody who owned a strathead wanted a new pointy neck for it.
Once they started to obtain collectible status in the mid-90's the "screw counter" and "rarer = better" mentality took over which was a complete departure from what these guitars were all about in the first place. I suppose thats what happens when people jump on a trend and then try to define it.

I would have already brought it home, as stated one of the best bargains out there. Barzini had one I should have hit.

Those are very nice. I tried a few around here, and quality-wise I could´ve walked out of the store with any one of them. I didn´t, though, because they all had that NOS six-screw bridge... I wouldn´t hesitate going for one with a FR.

i'm an anti-floyd guy and this one doesn't have one. i've been thinking about it all day. maple board, h-s-s, duncans. it makes absolutely no sense to buy another guitar, but it is xmas season, so...
