So it's been a bit more than year since this thread, has anyone played one of these? I know the initial price point was too high but I imagine a used one would come in around $900 by now, worth that price? I think the HSS model with the pickguard is non recessed.

I recently picked up a USA Select So Cal HSS. Great neck, tight pocket, very resonant, great fret work. I was very pleasantly surprised. Only thing I did was swap the pickups to my preferred setup.
Otherwise... A fantastic guitar.

I would love one in HSS, fixed bridge and maple or ebony board. Don’t think it exists though.

I like em all H-H, H-S-S, H-S, H-H-H, S-S-S, all but H only...a one hum guitar is useless to me but hey Eddie Van Halen was too stupid to figure out how to wire so 1 H became popular

That's cool, and I like combinations, too. But, I love 1 H guitars. For that matter, I like the Esquire, too, and the Firebird I, the LP Jr, and the SG Jr. Some of it is the same reason I like single channel amps. If I only have one channel, one pickup, and a volume pot, all the tonal variations are on me. It forces me to find other ways to do the things I'd normally switch channels or pickups to do. I like things that force me outside of my comfort zone.

I also think that there may be something to not having multiple magnetic fields damping the strings. I've never tried to prove this, but the theory makes sense. I don't know how much this actually affects the sound and sustain, though.

On the other hand, I wouldn't ever want an LPS or LPC with one pup. Just wouldn't be right. I still like refrigerator racks, too.

I wish they'd do a 6 string version identical to the 7 string ash body w\flat black. Dammit!
