I'm in the midst of a move and therefore will not have my regular amps for about a month. I also have a rather expensive amp on order, so I'd like to keep this as cheap as possible. So with that said, what do you guys recommend as a cheap ($200-300) & temporary amp solution? I'll be using an old 1966 Marshall cab, so a speaker isn't necessary.

Boss Katana? Orange Micro? Fender Pro Junior? Or just use an audio interface and software? TIA

Bias? I think itsnon sale right now. I personally think it sounds not the best but if it's just for jamming.

I played the Boss Katana the other day and I own a blackstar ID100 combo.

Both great amps in the $ range and are versatile. Both have usb for recording, I use mine constantly and it makes it very easy.
Turns it into a DAW.

I love mine and the tone is definitely good

Find a marshall class 5 head. Those amps kick ass for 5 watts through a 4x12!

Micro Dark

I would do this just because.

I typically play through my interface at home and that is definitely the cheapest option so it depends.

Do you want a cool little toy and have a couple dollars to burn? If not just use your interface and some free or even paid amp sims.

Otherwise even though you don't need a speaker a used Peavey Bandit combo is hard to beat imo for the price.

A used Jet City 20w head would fit your price and amp needs nicely.

I would buy a be od and small pedal power amp. I am getting great tones with me be od and my torpedo live while my smallbox is being repaired.

AMT preamp into your interface. Works like a charm and they're cheap as fuck used.

I bought a bugera 6260 for this exact reason. Thing sounds incredibly good for a 300 amp.
And no my house has not burned down!

I have used an AMT preamp and they do work great. My only challenge was getting good clean tones with them by rolling back the volume knob during gigs (I got too much volume drop).

After a LOT of searching I found the Tech 21 Fly Rig to be a perfect lightweight, compact option, giving great clean and dirty tones, as well as delay, reverb and lead boost built in. Richie Kotzen has a sig model with even more dirt, which is the one I ended up buying. It's a great grab and go solution - fits in your guitar case and has some great tones and options.

I appreciate all of the help guys, thank you. I admittedly close to just going the interface route, but definitely not 100% there.

A pre amp pedal/quilter power amp (or others) would be my 2nd choice. Very portable, rig in a bookbag.

Line 6 Pod Pro with a power amp - I always have one around for the "rainy day". Or grab a Flextone HD! :)

Do you keep an extinguisher near by

Just kidding. I had a 6260 about 5 yrs ago. Besides the bad tubes that it came with, brought brand new, the amp was a good 5150 clone for sure.

I've been watching Rik Emmett's Res 9 Facebook videos and really liking what I'm hearing coming out of the Yamaha THR10X sitting next to him, which I presume he's playing through. Had me close to getting one, like I need another amp. :scared:
