I think the most interesting pickup was one that had evey other pole piece wound to two different output jacks. This way the string next to each other would be set up in stereo and played out of a different amp and cab. For example, the high E string would be wound to one jack and the B string would be wound to another jack. Then utilized and both strummed, their sound would come out of two different amps/sources.
