Check out this speaker - in my brand new Diezel cab

I just got the cab brand new from Musicians Friend. I am the original purchaser - this was not a return item nor does it look lie the box was ever opened from the manufacture (Boutique Amps)

I swapped speakers out yesterday and noticed one of the speakers had been repaired. The lighting of the picture makes it look worse than it actually is, but it clearly has been repaired and put in the cab. It sounds alright, but I wouldn't expect something like this in a brand new cab. Not sure what to do about it. I clearly can't sell the thing for what a clean speaker would go for.

Dirty. Wow.

Now you make me want to go check all mine.

Contact BAD and swap for a new speaker... or maybe with MF?

A while ago I ordered a diezel Head that was imported through BAD and it was sold to me as brand new in box, but upon opening found a nice thick layer of dust on top of the chassis.

Dust on a brand new sealed amp? Hmm.

I had a horrible “repair” experience with them where they sent my amp back with the same problem, I was out $250 for nothing.

The real kicker is I caught them lying to me and had video proof THEY sent me. Then they held my amp hostage for a week. I asked over and over to pay the bill and have my amp shipped back.

No amp for two months. Returned without repair of any kind and a $250 loss.

I would NEVER use BAD again period.

when a diezel amp arrives in the US they are obligated to take the amp out of the box to check everything is as it should be. Maybe thats why?

Wow! It's not even like it got torn somehow and slipped past their QC. That's a repaired/refurbished part being passed off as new. Shady as hell.

That’s my issue. Someone clearly thought it was acceptable to put in the cab and pass off like it was perfectly fine.

shit, it even looks like they used sharpie to cover it up.

I'd at least bring it to their attention.

I emailed BAD and copied my sales rep at Musicians Friend. We'll see how they respond.

Go gettem Matt!

My MF sales rep responded right away. He offered to send a replacement cab. I said that wasn't necessary. lol It'd be easier to swap the speaker. What I really want is BAD to send me a new speaker, not MF - since BAD was clearly the culprit here.

Yup. I agree. Their track record with quality control and service after the sale is not exemplary at all... a few others (me included) here have had similar experiences. Can't say I'm shocked either. That's really dirty to do something like that.

That was cool of MF though.

So far BAD has been very responsive. I'm shipping them the speaker today for them to inspect. Hopefully they'll just ship me a replacement.

That’s nuts. I’d be on the prowl also.
I just went and checked mine I bought new last year. All good.
I can’t believe that would be sent in a brand new cab.
At least customer service is taking care of you

Also. That can’t sound good I would think. It’s gotta effect the sound even a little. Especially with a 180w power house Herb

That cone has clearly been compressed or damaged to have that type of crease in it, especially with the crack in the doping. It's either that or the QC division of the speaker company had one too many bong hits at lunch. Either way, that speaker won't last as long due to the damaged cone.

I'm not going to ask what speaker company did this. Good luck Mr. Henson!
