Check out this speaker - in my brand new Diezel cab

That’s my issue. Someone clearly thought it was acceptable to put in the cab and pass off like it was perfectly fine.

That cone has clearly been compressed or damaged to have that type of crease in it, especially with the crack in the doping. It's either that or the QC division of the speaker company had one too many bong hits at lunch. Either way, that speaker won't last as long due to the damaged cone.

I'm not going to ask what speaker company did this. Good luck Mr. Henson!

Yes speakers stick to the cardboard and that can cause issues. That may have happened here.

It was also obviously “covered up” “patched” and then installed and sold as new.

No comment on that practice/ethic huh?!

BAD will never get my business again. They lied to me on the phone multiple time and I caught them and called them out on it. Now I see multiple complaints that suggest an overall ethic there.

Except that speaker companies know that this happens so they put their speakers in plastic bags before they box them. BAD is a shit company. They fucked up a speaker, then “fixed” it and tried to pass it off as new. Lame.

The gasket on the frame lifts the cone off the cardboard a good 1/4-3/8". Add in the plastic bag and there's no way that speaker was damaged in shipping unless it was dropped and the box was dented. Even then that would produce a dent, not a cut in the cone.

To conclude, they readily agreed to send me a replacement speaker!

They said that it was caused by the speaker sticking to the box. The "repair" is really what they do so the color of the speaker matches. They didn't say whether they thought the long-term viability of the speaker was impaired or not because of the damage - but I don't really care at this point as long as I get a new speaker that is undamaged.

While I don't necessarily agree with using the speaker in the cab in the first place - sounds like a packing issue they need to hash out with Celestion if the speakers stick to the box - I'm happy with the way they resolved my issue and their level of communication and responsiveness such that this incident would not preclude me from dealing with/purchasing BAD manufactured products in the future.

Sucks that this is a chore for you,man.

But that cab is gonna crush once its up and broken in! My Diezels sound bad ass with K100s.

I already pulled all the K100s. That's when I saw the issue. My initial plan in buying the cab was to swap 2 of the K100s for v30s. I like a little more bite/grind and all K100s are just a little too dark/flat for my tastes. I had v30s/K100s in my old Mills cabs that sounded great with my Diezels back then.

In the mean time, since I had a quad of Creamback H75s and no extra v30s, I installed the H75s in there and I prefer that over all K100s. Though still not as good as my Fryette FB cab with Fane F70s. So ordered a quad of those which just arrived yesterday. I plan to see how they sound in the Diezel front load (for use with my Herbert) and a Wizard rear-load (for use with my MTL/MCII).
