Just as a side-note. I read that Megan Fox is a slob and doesn't flush the toilet after herself. Can anyone confirm this?

Well here's the back story to this thing. I bought it back in 2005 and it was largely stock and I had no idea what I was in for. Turns out it's unusable at home for a bedroom warrior like myself. I had it modded for a PPIMV and it was STILL too loud then I got a Hotplate, now the volume was a lot better but the tone wasn't as good. Darker, more squashed. Without the Hotplate, and the PPIMV the amp was glorious but who could use it? I drove my family utterly nuts! Fast-forward 4 years or so and just decided to start modding it myself. Things quickly got out of control and I was obsessed with it and man I can't tell you what a rabbit-hole modding Marshalls can be. I learned a lot, but mostly that I don't like modding amps. I had some iterations that sounded great and others that didn't. What I did like a lot was the fact that wired up as a 2203, the amp still sounded like itself but more "healthy" or "proper" for lack of a better term. In the process of modding and re-modding, there were some cold solder joints that caused some issues. I couldn't find them and I was always concerned about my work given that I'm a newb. Last thing I wanted to do was have the amp blow up because I'm an asshole. So I decided to have Jim look at it. Make sure everything was good. Clean it up and make it a 2203 but with more gain. Not modern, tight kind of high gain as I have other amps that do that perfectly. Basically a 2203 on 11 or 12. By his account, that's where it sounded the best. It's way thicker and fatter than any 2203 which is how it was stock. So I think the original tone is still there, but more controllable volume wise and with more gain.

There is no secret to a 2203/04. They just sound really great when opened up a bit. Some of these amps be it due to cap and resistor value drifts or values they just had on hand and decided to use, just have more "mojo" or gain/beef,crunch. A good way to level the playing field is just to tweak a few areas. You can change 2 values in the preamp and 1 on the NFR and you will have a bitchin amp that takes pedals well. Hell , with the right pickup and the preamp opened up, you can get away with most classic scorps tones etc.. just kick in a lil something for lead. So some might be dogs but most can be cured of ice pick or "not enough" gain fairly easily without turning the amp into a bee hive or an over saturated compressed machine. Part of the charm is in the rawness of these amps and the chunk. You work for it, but you hear it come out in the playing. Forces you to become a better player, to pick more.
