Chicago-Land Ampfest 10/12/13

Would any Rig Talk brothers be down?

I'm going to host an ampfest here in Chicago, I'm gunning for a date of Saturday 10/12/13 @ 1 pm.

It will take place here:

Fort Knox Studios
4255 North Knox Avenue
Chicago, IL 60642

Plenty of parking as well as being right off of the Kennedy Expressway, climate controlled, and a nice lounge when you just want to take a break from playing :lol:
BYOB and food if you want as well, should be a great time!

I'm interested. Never been to or done a fest like this... you bring your amp(s) and/or cabs and everyone gets to try everyone's stuff? Potentially do trades, etc?

I can bring the following depending on car space and what others bring (ex, not going to bring something if someone else is already bringing it or can bring it):

VHT D-120 w/ FX loop mod
Mako Mak4
Fryette 2/90/2
VHT Fatbottom 412 straight
Genz Benz G-Flex 212 loaded with G12-K85 speakers.
Egnater Rebel 20
Avatar open back cube-like 1x12 with EVM-12L
VHT Pittbull Classic 2x12 combo

Let me know what it all means and how it works.
 
This would be fun. I'm in sw Michigan but would be interested in driving over.
 
Awesome, time permitting I'll come up with some stuff. Have you talked to Chris Ptacek about possibly coorganizing? He's still planning to do something just trying to decide on a time.
 
It sounds great. I may have a gig that night but if not I'd like to go. I could bring a PWE EH3, Friedman modded JMP, and a BFG modded JMP.

Sweet, thanks for the interest guys, looks like everyone is bringing something different to the table amp-wise, no doubles so far! :rock:
I sent Chris a pm as well to see where he stands on a date.
 
Anyone have any contacts with some of the Chicago-land based manufacturers/builders? Could be awesome to see some prototypes from Randall (based in Mundelein). Can't think of any other amp companies in the area outside of a couple of custom amp makers. Rhodes is based in West Lafayette--not too far. Maybe get them in on it to bring some stuff out. Great way for them to get in front of their target market.

Just throwing this out there...

I would make the drive from Milwaukee just to hear/see those three.

I'm in the midst of shopping for a 1x12 combo though so I don't have much to bring that's really cool per se.
I've got my B52 AT100 head, cab is 4x12 but likely too big to lug in. If someone brings a nice 4x12 cab I can plug in to it.
And I've got my "vintage" Mosvalve 1x12 tube pre solid state power combo. VERY scratchy pots though, yet it still has a decent different tone just for the F of it. :)

I'm looking at a Mesa Boogie 5:50 1x12 combo right now, might get it and have it by then. If not, the other amp I'm considering is a Peavey
JSX. Played it at a GC and LOVED it. No longer made, so I'm shopping used on that.

I'm sure there will be cabinets to use, I have more heads/amps then cabs and won't be bringing any 4x12. I really only use 1x12 ev loaded cabs anymore anyway.

I work for Goose Island, so if anyone wants I could bring a couple of cases at a major discount. Or a keg of Matilda/Sofie/Pepe. It does cost but way I get an employee discount.

I'd like to not being any cabs of possible. Just my combo and heads.

Sounds like an awesome idea, still playing around with dates though.
Would November be feasable for you guys?
 
I only have a VHT 100 w Pit. If I can go and if I can get my friend to go, hes got a Rockerverb MkII
