I owned one of those for 20 something years. Great effect but boy, was it bad when it was off...

I should give that one another try.

We've reviewed a ton of chorus pedals. Big question is if you prefer CE-1 style analog delay or not... it can make a huge difference in your tone, especially if you like to run chorus and distortion for that big 80s lead sound. Check out our chorus pedal reviews here:

What if you want to run chorus & distortion but NOT for that big 80s lead sound?

For the more modern heavy tone with some chorus, I'm personally a fan of the totally inexpensive Rocktron Deep Blue because this pedal leans towards the thinner side -- it's not a super thick, lush chorus. And it's because of that that I find it sits nicely in a high-gain tone without turning things to mush. With a very warm tube amp, this is a great chorus for someone who wants more subtle chorus than the big, creamy analog chorus tone.

In my own rigs, though, I personally worship at the TC Electronic altar. I have the SCF Stereo Chorus Flanger pedal for the small rig, and use the G-Major 2 in my rack for the big rig chorus tones.

Hmmmm, thanks for the tip.

But speaking of the TC SCF, I had one and really did not like how it thinned my guitar's signal.

I had been using the hardwire but then tried the neunaber chroma stereo and liked it better. That hardwire had been the first I found that I liked in quite a while though.

I used to use a Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus. I liked it really well. I haven't tried the TC or super high end stuff though.

+1 on the Hardwire stereo chorus.. I just picked one up the other day and really dig it..
Sadly I got a Fulltone deja vibe the other day and hate it.. I've had other fulltone pedals I liked but this one sounds like a blanket got thrown over the speaker cab. Maybe I got a bad one. It's going back to guitar center tomorrow.

I never use Flanger. Just sold my Choralflange for the new MXR Analog Chorus which is capable of a more rich and subtle chorus. The Choralflange could be too dominant amd hi-fi.

I'd check out either the hardwire chorus if you want many sounds or the neunaber chroma stereo chorus if you want just one killer sound.

I'm thinking of switching to my Mistress flanger for the "dirt chorus" sounds and use a combo of two regular chorus pedals for the cleaner stuff.
It's shitting me off that I can't get a distorted chorus sound that I like. The Mistress just KILLS for swirly chorusing.
