I judge everything on a case by case basis. IT is definitely an exception to that rule. But Big Wreck came out of the gate swinging, showing their full abilities on their first album anyway, so it’s not like he was “ hiding” his guitar skills like CC was.

Were the solos of Eric Johnson, Larry Carlton and Jay Grayson any less hidden?
These were very different times, you needed to sing to be a solo act that was marketable.

I mean he turned down Steely Dan and his debut album got 4 Grammies.
And he’s the one that played the solos on the hits.
