I measured my Clapton signature Stratocaster to more than 70 Db boost yesterday and more than 58 Db boost without the mid boost button. I measured the active cuircuit and saw where it boosted. It has 3 cascading 2N6429 transistors that each boosts. Then there is a 2N5087 transistor that takes care of the mid boost. Thats 4 different boosts. With the amp set at 0,6 out of 10 I had 116,2 decibels with my Clapton signature Stratocaster with mid boost. 103,2 Db boost without the mid boost ( the weakest position you can go on the Clapton signature Stratocaster ) and 45 decibels with my passive Strat with powerful single coils. Fender counts Db boost as decibels above a passive Stratocaster so their 25 Db boost should have been 70 decibel ( from a 45 decibel passive Stratocaster ). Now it was 71,2 Db boost and 58,2 Db boost ( without the mid boost ). The Clapton signature Stratocaster Will never ever sound like a Stratocaster because its active with active electronics and 4 boosts colours the sound. The only thing thats passive are the Stacked Humbuckers ( vintage Noiceless) and Humbuckers can never sound like single coils. You have to be careful with your ears though. A 58,2 decibel louder guitar is 64 times louder than the other guitar. A 71,2 decibel louder guitar is 190 times louder than the other guitar.
